As a Meath fan and a Meath poster, I almost feel as if an apology is in order on behalf of the other posters after reading some of the bull present on this thread.
The notion of the league being made null and void to save this Meath team's skin is also a complete embarrassment. I have nothing more to add to that that wouldn't paint a negative light on the team only that its truly mortifying what depths people will fall to to protect their fantasies.
Stay safe everyone.

A bit of optimism is needed. The league will be finished in the Summer, the clubs need time to get moving then too and by November there will be All-Ireland Finals. In the mean time stay home and cook.

If we do get up and running, big if, there are only 2 rounds of the league to be played. They could be played during the championship. No big deal. Club games are off during championship anyway. It will test panel strength but on the other hand it will be great prep for teams a head of championship games.

I would imagine most teams would otherwise play at least 2 challenge games during championship. This would replace these. No league finals needed (winners decided by who tops the table) and if the placings are finalised with a game to go you could scrap that game.

Is it ideal.....no. But certainly better than making season null and void.

Everything really depends on when things get going again. If we are up and running in 3 months then it works. But it requires games every week.

Hard luck Mayo today...they gave it absolutely everything in pure desperation to try and claw on to Division 1 status, my heart goes out to them.

Disappointing campaign when you look at points for Meath. Should have at least won 4 games v Kerry mayo galway and Monaghan, add to that the Dublin game. didn't taKe our chances. In last 2 games we had 7 clear cut goal chances. We took one. That I'm afraid tells the story.
Ok negatives out of way we have found some excellent and exciting players that along with those there can propel Meath back to their rightful place. Looking forward to championship and league soon after and immediate return to top flight .

I thought Mayo were going to win the All-Ireland and Aidan O'Shea was the best FF in the country? What happened?

Disappointing to go down, we need to stay in division 1 in order to get back to competing for titles again but it is what it is and we didn't deserve to stay up. I just hope we can bounce back and return to Div1 quickly but Div2 will be very tough next year.

To be fair to our lads though, they weren't far off. We lost poorly in our opening 2 games to Tyrone and Donegal but could easily have won any of our remaining 5 games (our biggest loss in those matches being to Dublin by 4pts).

We just haven't learned to win tight games and we've had plenty of opportunities over the last 2 years, but hopefully we'll start to get it right soon.

Ps, the leagues should be voided this year anyway ;-)

Mayo will be straight back up after 2021 but it'll be difficult in Div 2 next year. Meath will have a job on their hands. I'd say this years championship will see both do well though.

Why?? The table doesnt lie, they have been hanging on to Div 1 status for years, apart from last year..
They'll have Meath Cork kildare etc next year to battle with...

Well we are finally relegated...truth be told we left ourselves with too much to do this year. Covid only delayed the inevitable. Our 22 year record is gone but there is no shame in getting relegated, it happens every team.

Well done to Tyrone, better team in the day. We are in transition and we will have more bad days ahead but we will be back.

What's this " rightful place" stuff. Rightful place is in Div 2 and if Tyrone were beat today that was there rightful place. League tables don't lie. The good thing is league leaders win league , none of this league final stuff.

I like the fact that the top team won each division. I think it's a fairer system than playing a league final imo.

Great win for Tyrone and they will have great momentum now coming into the Ulster Championship next Sunday, Conor McKenna is some addition to them, we have a tough job on our hands now to stop them, hopefully we can get it right on the day,
4 Ulster teams in Div 1 next season, no doubt which is the strongest province, Dublin and Kerry will coast to the All ireland semi finals, different story in Ulster.

I was so sure that Cillian o Connor and Aidan o Shea were one step to far for Tyrone to have any luck today. I knew that Tyrone defence are very good. Also regarding my own county I was so sure that Meath were too weak to beat them. I thought it was going to be a Tyrone drop to division 2. My biggest surprise of the day was that Aidan O shea was held scoreless. I was blown away by Connor Mc Kenna and Darragh Cannavan. Mattie Donnelly and Peter Harte M Cann mc Namee were all names mentioned a lot during the match. It could be interesting next weekend. My own county struggled to beat Meath but with a forward like Conor Mc Manus we have good hope for next weekend.

Connacht football is not in a good place at the moment. Mayo just relegated, Galway struggling. One bright spark is Roscommon getting promoted. Hope though there will be an improvement overall. I would like to see our team's being competitive if we reach the semi finals. That is to be in the game in the last 10 minutes.

Ain't falling for this bud. Big hi to the royal dunster from all the Rossies and a hi five as you drop down. As the Tyrone poster stated the tables don't lie.

Cillian didn't play...nobody knows what's going on but must be injured again.
