I fear this boy might not be that well. The nature of these forums you don't know what's going on in peoples heads. I think its best we err on the side of caution if replying. Mental as well as physical health is our wealth. cuttothebone (Kildare) - Posts: 124 - 13/03/2020 11:40:36 2273677 Link 10 |
Can't believe he is still permitted to post. I agree something not quite right there.

All the leagues should be classed as null and void , which they are. AfricanGael (UK) - Posts: 522 - 14/03/2020 12:04:53 2273790 Link 1 |
Matches are won on the field of play and 99% of games are not decided by a Ref. Of course there always some people who blame everyone except their team when the lose. When you are into the blame game you are obviously losing. With regards to Meath/Galway game I thought the Ref handled it as well as most in such a situation and did not decide the outcome. Unfortunately the incident in the AI between Dublin/Mayo when the last kick out was controlled by one team wrestling most of the opposition to the ground with no action taken-this now seems to be accepted practice. If Tyrone was involved instead of Dublin it would be all over the usual read rags and the RTE boys (Pat et.al included) would be looking for at least 3/4 new rules to counter act such activity. Pulling and dragging appears accepted on and off the ball and does little to improve the game. I must also add that the most successful teams foul when tackling but it is accepted as playing on the edge by all. browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2189 - 14/03/2020 12:24:23 2273792 Link 11 |

No action, Kilkenny black card, Costelloe yellow. Just after Keegan incident when he threw gps at Rock, so underhand tactics all round. Difference was Rock put the free over the bar, Clarke put his kick-out over the side-line.

The refs should be relegated, meath should be handed the trophy

Think the Leagues should be terminated. However I don't think they should be declared null and void. This is supposed to be an amateur sport after all, the last five games and the effort put in by all involved should count for something, It might be different if teams had games in hand or something but every team has five games played mhunicean_abu (Monaghan) - Posts: 803 - 15/03/2020 12:11:38 2273848 Link 0 |
While I agree with a lot of your points I don't see this happening it looks like the season could be closed down for a number of months I think they'll just scrap the leagues and run the championship off on a knock out basis with no back door or super 8 all depends how long it's shut down for

based on how each division finished give first 4 teams in each division a semie final place in leaque . there would be a semie final in each division for example division 4 1-4 places are pitteed in a semie final lor12 (Wicklow) - Posts: 168 - 15/03/2020 17:44:37 2273895 Link 0 |
Jesus we are gripped in a crisis and someone finds a way to have a pop as usual at Mayo....question our commitment? You can level a lot of things at Mayo teams but never commitment or fight...never

I posted on this a week ago and some people I considered intelligent men really continue to drag our name down. Some of them even questioned if I was personally speaking about them. All I'll say is I'm honestly disgusted by the attitude of some Meath supporters. Christ we used to accept our defeat like men and get on with it. No whinging, no complaining, no the ref bent us over a table. We were better than that and did our talking on the field. We handled our business amongst the lines and stepped up to the line (legally and sometimes illegally) and were often cuter than our opponents. We thrived on the hatred because we could back it up. A lot of people hated us for it but admired our ability to get away with it. Those days are long gone and years off being attainable again. We've not beaten a top team in the 10's and have nothing to crow about. A lot of Meath supporters need to grow up and stop living off 20+ years ago success and realise where we are. An ordinary middle of the chasing pack team. If we could get back to beating some of the teams above us then maybe we've something to build off but until we do we're nowhere near back. As I said that doesn't excuse those that love to kick a dog when it's down. This game and association was founded on something more, you shake your opponents hand and wish them well, be gracious in defeat and humble in victory. Far too much of the soccer bull has come into our games, to our detriment. Time to move on folks. Hope this shows not all Meath men and women are moaners , whingers and complainers and can have good reasonable discussion about our great games. brian (Meath) - Posts: 909 - 16/03/2020 01:15:45 2273948 Link 4 |
Brian being completely honest I think an awful lot of Meath supporters are very honest about our present position in the food chain, you appear very negative about our future chances of success and I think that is a very detrimental attitude to have, I think this team is making progress and most definitely going in the right direction and just because a win over a big team hasn't been attained doesn't mean it won't be soon, I am far more optimistic now than I have been for some time, we have been close and have more learning to do but my view of our future is not as dismissive as yours. And please can we stop this nonsense that in the good old days we took our defeat like men and didn't cry and whinge, I'm old enough to remember players and supporters ready to kill Longford ref Pat O'Toole in the '97 clashes with Kildare, we actively sought that Michael Collins of Cork wouldn't referee a match involving us again and I don't remember too many matches in the 80's where the ref didn't get a bollocking of some sort, this nonsense that we were on a higher moral ground than anyone else is nonsense by my experiences.
