We got to the league final in our first year in division 1. What are you confused by?

Div 1 football isnt for everyone buddy.

Keep the faith though, meath for sam and all that. Mind the gap, it's a big one"
And behaving in stadium tunnels isn't for everybody either it seems, I'd be more concerned about the drop off in Dublin's discipline since Jim Gavins departure than about what division we ply our trade in if I was you.

He needs to concentrate on what he can control, there is always someone else to blame. Problems lie much closer to home. Hopefully both management and team will use the harsh reality of the last number of weeks to move forward. In fairness to Meath they have shown great spirit in last two games so things are improving slowley. Couple of handy games coming up, away to Dublin and Monaghan.

In fairness to Meath I think they are around Roscommon's level at the moment in that they are well capable of knocking out a big name if it came to a qualifier in Championship. I don't think they would catch out Dublin or Kerry but the rest of the chasing pack could be vulnerable in a one-off Championship match.

Their problem as I see it is consistency and depth of the panel. All squads suffer from injuries but it looks like Meath haven't been as able to deal with it as the other Div 1 teams this year. We are missing at least 3 important starters with another (Paddy McB) only just coming back into the side - we've had an up and down league results wise but performances have been very encouraging. Meath seem a long way off that at the moment but I think their starting 15, when all fit, are good enough to give anyone a rattle on their day.

Just because a few posters in here rub folks up the wrong way doesn't mean we can't acknowledge they seem to be in a good place compared to 5 years ago and if they get to the Super 8s again and bounce straight back to Div 1 next year it will only benefit their development further.

Drinking all the comments in today.

A lot made out of the tunnel incident in Omagh. Didn't think much about it.

Conditions clearly helped stifle Dublin but I was surprised how soft they were.

Meath's first year up in Div 1 after a spell in Div 2 in 2020 and ye get relegated . Who does it suit?
It took Meath years to get upto Div 1 but it took a few weeks to go down to Div 2."
Ouch!!

I'm always amused that posters that downplay their own team's win against Dublin.

Tyrone won coz they were the better side on Saturday night not coz Dublin were soft.

Why belittle your own team?

There may be an element of truth in what he says Mes. Watching it on telly, it looked as if it was left to a few of the established players like McCarthy, Kilkenny, Murchan and, in particular, Fenton to carry the fight to Tyrone. On numerous occasions Kilkenny took the ball down along the left touchline but there was no support runners through the middle to take a pass as defenders closed in on him. Fenton could be seen time and again calling and urging his players to make the runs.

I'm not belittling my own team. I agree that we were the better team on Saturday night. Hunger was there.

Padraic joyce last week making his way onto the pitch to stop the lads entering the dressing room at the same time as the tyrone lads speaks volumes. He hadnt done that before and he didnt do it today either."
Noticed it last week against Tyrone and he was on the pitch lively enough today as well calling the players over to the right hand side.
I know Connacht Gaa and Croke Park issue Clubs instructions on what team leaves the pitch first at half time in their clar notice for the day .Does this happen at Inter county league/championship??

Tyrone played very well, nice and direct down the middle. Dublin were ponderous again, putting the ball out to the wings and running into cul de sacs. It's my biggest gripe with our lads, not direct enough. We have a few GAA Glenn Whelans on our team, almost afraid to put the ball into inside forwards or to attack down the middle. We're still in the hunt though.

Dreadful conditions to play a match in and it should not have been played at all.
GAA pandering to RTE and to hell with players.
Players have been treated for hypothermia after some of these fixtures and it's shocking how anyone could clear that game to go ahead.
Why was Mayo and Kerry game postponed and how much worse were the conditions there.

Andy Mac expressing his frustration about the ref ignoring cynical Galway fouls. And people say Tyrone are cynical!!

Don't get me wrong, I always liked Galway football and hurling - just a bit surprised yesterday.

I really hope we get them later in the year as I think that, with a proper ref that would protect the players, we can take them."
Maybe but I will say for the potential talent and quality at our disposal the dry ball may favour us just as much as ye feel it will benefit ye. No one doubts Meath are making progress but people need to take some perspective on yesterday. Also we have taken a few years and change in management to show what I feel is our true talent. By no means the finished article but on an upward curve and aside from last season not helped by dare I say it injuries (might as well use it since half the country is) we have been developing.

Instead of revenge against Galway concentrate on the Leinster Championship, just think of all the refs you have to badmouth all Summer long. Now, most refs come from Meath I believe?

You're like the Black Knight in Monty Python's Holy Grail: legs gone, arms gone, stump precariously balanced upright as he shouts "All right then, let's call it a draw."

That said, I hope we do meet again come summer; beating Meath twice in the same year would be a grand treat.

This thread is just full of bitters, we may have been relegated but we'll storm Div 2 next year and take a few big scalps this summer and the faltering Dubs. We'll be the ones laughing when Galway's season of promise comes to a limp end as per usual.

You will of course, yer bound to put more than 4 over against the Dubs and then sure who knows where that could lead.
It'll be alright on the night lad , Andy will eventually get a ref that's not against ye.

Maybe yous should go down to division 3 and win the tailteann cup and then have a massive homecoming in tailteann park. Wouldn't that be lovely for yous.
