I expect a fairly weakened Kerry lineup for the early parts of the league. There are several players club / sigerson tied, injured or just taking veteran time off. Don't get me wrong, the lads that play will give it their all and I'm going to the game in the hope of a win but I don't think either side will learn a whole pile for later on in the year.

Looking forward to this interesting on a number of levels - assumed kerry improvement - assumed Dublin dip - And a new Dublin manager - will Dessie go a bit left field with his selection? gormdubhgorm (Dublin) - Posts: 990 - 16/01/2020 18:45:56 2260286 Link 2 |

Can you name a player who scored more than Clifford in the 2 All Ireland Finals?

I actually was going to say in my original post that I didn't mean any offence to Clifford but I took it out because I couldn't see how anyone would construe that I did. But here's one just for your paranoia. If Clifford hadn't dropped his last shot short in the drawn game, Kerry would be All Ireland Champions now.

I expect Kerry to win by 7-8. Peter Keane has banned players drinking since mid december. Pat spillane said he met a kerry player who wasnt allowed to drink as training the next year. PK seem to be micro managing. wouldn't let Jack Barry and Diramuid Connors celebrate winning to a junior title and made them attend a gym seesion the follwing morning. I meant from play - of course.

that is ridiculous, it would put you off them with manager like that. Kind of hope Dublin beat them just cause of that

You wrote: Fitzsimons did brilliantly on Clifford in All Ireland matches, That's hard to square with the fact that Clifford got 6 points from play - no one scored more (from play) than Clifford. He is not perfect - who is? - and may well have dropped a shot as you point out. Aibrean (Kerry) - Posts: 177 - 17/01/2020 11:26:00 2260420 Link 0 |
Ah i know, i was just teasing really, no offence intended. David is a fine player and no mistake, is he due to make make an appearance Saturday week, be nice to watch him again live. Did i see IT Tralee, get knocked out of Sigerson, might be good news for Kerry in the league as his load might be lighter and more manageable. Not sure him being captain would be a good thing, if it comes to pass, id be minding him on the hard ground myself and developing lads. Paul Mannion scored 6 from play didn't he?

Bookies think different. Dublin 8/15 to win the game. Predicts a draw myself.

Keane is a fella under fierce pressure. He comes across as a defensive sort of a man who's always under attack and especially in the media. Trying to be too cute and just coming across as awkward. If he's at that crack with players I'd say they'll have the hump fairly shortly. catch22 (USA) - Posts: 1647 - 17/01/2020 12:22:50 2260434 Link 4 |
He didn't "may well" drop a shot short, he dropped a shot short which would have put Kerry 2 up in closing minutes.

He did. And Jack got 1-3. Still true to say that "no one scored more (from play) than Clifford".

But there was 4 players altogether who scored the equal amount from play: Dublin Dean Rock 0-6 Paul Mannion 0-6 Jack Mac 1-3 Kerry David Clifford 0-6 Have to admit though, Clifford is an amazing talent, and at just 20 years of age in his first taste of a senior all Ireland final, that's some going.
