I'd still prefer that my €160 wasn't feeding a lot of public servants who also get some of my tax when I rarely watch RTE. I'd prefer if it all went to TG4 who promote our language and seem more clued in as shown by them live streaming games on YouTube.

Roscommon didn't nearly get rid of McStay though some in Roscommon football would probably have Ben happy if he left after they were relegated. O'Donnell quit and brought two selectors with him saying he was being undermined. Seems closer to the truth to say it was O'Donnell that was trying to undermine McStay and McHale. Some players didn't return for Roscommon in 2017 for various reasons, but some because they had ties with pro-O'Donell politics.

Pro-O'Donnell camp Sheerin went on a rant about McStay and McHale because they're from Mayo. Not because they're not from Roscommon even though McStay has lived there for years, played for Roscommon Gaels and coached Roscommon minors and U21s. There's no pleasing some people!

Dublin haven't killed the Leinster championship, it's up to other Leinster counties to give them more to think about and improve and eventually beat them. Look at Cork last night putting Kerry to the pin of their collar. As you say the other teams are doing well in the qualifiers. They need to keep improving and strive to beat Dublin.Dublin have a psychological advantage over some counties who get to games with a 'sure we'll do our best' atitude rather than self-belief that they'll win. Now definitely they are formidable opponents with a great manger but some teams are affectively starting games against them three or four points down. Donegal and Kerry won All Irelands recently so a whole load of positivity in the head might reduce that big gap a bit and it might breed the confidence needed to knock the off their perch.

They did it for a few minutes and they won after being unreal the rest of the game. It wasn't pretty but damn effective and wouldn't have worked if Kerry were as well conditioned as them. It broke Kerry a bit psychologically, their heads were down because they were losing, they wer ed fatigued and Dub llin wouldn't give them a sniff of the ball to try and let them back. In the first game there wasn't such a fuss asking why Kerry retreated at the end and didn't look for a winner. Probably because they were wrecked and the 14 Dubs pressed relentlessly. A very slim chance but had Dublin played fast and loose at the end Kerry could have countered and beat them. Then Dublin would have been called naive. I was hoping they were at half-time in the semis but 12 minutes of brilliance woke me up. They have plans A to Z and throw in a few more alphabets.

He's not a questioning voice, he just thrives on the attention. He's more than capable of doing good analysis, having the craic but allowing presenter and fellow analysts a say too but prefers his own voice.
I agree with everything else you say though. But it's RTE and will remain conservative and boring until someone shakes them up. The Sunday Game factory gets the raw material of an ex-county player who might look good on TV, put a suit on him and stick him on the show, regardless of how he comes across to an audience. Seeing as they're guaranteed the bulk of the licence money and get government subsidies, despite losing money, their cosy arrangement means that won't happen anytime soon.
It needs good analysis, a sense of humour and probably a few gimmicks to entice the next generation to watch it and actually make money for RTE through ads. Buff Egan hit the nail on the head when he says most young people today have no interest in how GAA is presented. The GAA should also have an interest. In business terms the kids today are their potential customers and The Sunday Game is part of their marketing strategy. Looking in at a few auld lads squabbling won't entice them to buy what the GAA is selling. It's 2019, who knows if there will be a Sunday Game or RTE in 2029.

Yeah. Plenty of facts there. No name, maybe one rep for a Dublin player told somebody something. Did the player get 6K? Maybe but there's nothing solid there, hopefully he got more. As for the country counterparts, what evidence has he to back up his claim? Breheny co-wrote this. A man who rarely has anything good to say about anything and poor journalism of a so-called bad news story. It' s clickbait.
Hopefully plenty of GAA players get decent money from endorsements. Clearly Dublin is the larger market so Dublin players can gain there. If not GAA then companies might look to other sports for role models to sponsor. And that could possibly be a tipping point to edge potential athletes out of the GAA towards other sports.

Replying To riverboys: "People have been saying for a good while we need neutral referees from neutral provinces for major matches like the All Ireland Finals but I will go I bit further we need neutral pundits on the Sunday game, I thought it was disgraceful for former Kilkenny players who were pundits on both shows to jump up and defend their county man who deservedly received a red card and 1 of them even claiming the Tipperary player went down very easy, that was completely wrong and unprofessional and then yesterday we had Whelan and wanna be dub Brolly saying Jonny Cooper didn't deserve to be sent off, they claimed it was a 50/50 ball and at best a free with Blue Brolly saying it should have been a Dublin free, the ref showed what went wrong, Cooper pulled Clifford for the penalty and David Gough has a reputation for giving frees for off the ball fouling or dragging a player before a ball is kicked into him, he done the same in 2017 Mayo v Kerry, Mayo got a few frees for the same antics Kerry were at, the same in Mayo v Donegal this year Michael Murphy won a penalty that at the time looked soft but on the TV replay he was dragged and a correct call, back to yesterday the 2nd foul where Cooper received his 1st yellow ref clearly showed a yellow and then showed 2 fingers indicating 2 fouls therefore a yellow, Cooper was on quicksand at this stage and any type of foul he would get the line and this happened, no argument the issue was the management, they should have made changes, both Cooper and Small were in serious trouble with yellow cards and ticking as well, 1 more foul and they were gone, for proper punditry please give us neutral pundits on the Sunday game so no Whelan, no Blue Brolly, no Spillane, no Tomas O'Se. The person I'd like to hear from is former Mayo manager and current Donegal coach Stephen Rochford, he is the only coach that has been able to put the game to the dubs for the past 5 years apart from the Kerry camp yesterday and his insight would be a learning curve for those watching at home instead of the same ranting by blue Brolly and co" link
