Replying To head4dblackspot: "Damo
This has always been the case with no competition for 2 years, nothing new as when minor was 18s next competition was U21
So now new minor is U17 and next competition is U20
What's the problem??" Not a problem as such , but a second year minor most likely is 18 going to college , some of the lads playing yesterday are still 16 in many ways very young adults , without the discipline of say another year there is a bigger chance of fellas falling by the way side , just my thoughts

I posted this on the main page , you guys any idea what happens now to your under 17s ? The problem lads is how do you look after these lads , there is no u18 no u19 next stage is under 20 , This is a problem now for every county as minor next year goes to under 17 , we have a gap of two years where the question has to be asked can you keep squads together without tournament play.
I don't know if our county board have plans for anyone after this year , no one seems to know , would like to hear your take on how its possible to keep them together

Replying To hill16no1man: "Damothedub the fact they get them numbers though in an area with such a strong run club as st brigids and Oliver plunketts who have the most easily recognized gaa player that money can't buy as a marketing tool is hugely impressive and a testament to what hard work and proper structures can do.
they were in division 10 when they started 18 years ago as a club, in 2012 they won the junior championship, in 2014 they won the intermediate championship and in 2016 they will contest the senior championship. Forget about Leicester city winning the premier league as a fairytale this would be the sporting fairytale to beat them all if castleknock go and beat the most successful club in Dublin football history in the final next week" I agree completely fantastic story , I've friends who are committee members for over ten years , my wife's best mate was secretary for 6 years or so , great club , fantastically well run , brilliant story .
With regards to the question will they beat Vincents ?????? Honestly hope so
Honestly don't think so , Vincent's are too much too soon for Castleknock , where as Judes played clueless last night Vincent's wont . Vincents will hold the ball longer and penetrate quicker they also have finishers
Having said all that Vincents aren't playing great IMO , their defence has looked suspect , the one thing I liked last night was when conceding the goal they didn't panic , they continued to play with confidence , maybe its the youth in them but they seem fearless.
David beat Goliath because he had a go , I think Castleknock are going to have a go.
Am aware of a few club members sitting on some mighty fine bookies dockets should they pull off the dream

Replying To clondalkindub: "Yes well done Aaron Byrne , he is another class act in the making. Need to get these kids game time asap" Need to get them game time asap , where's the fire ? What's Aaron done at senior to warrant getting game time in senior championship ? What ever happened to working your way into a team ? who are we thinking needs to be dropped ? How many of these kids are you talking about ? Obviously Con gets the nod as he's not exactly new to inter county , as for the other lads join the Q work the ass off yourself the way it's supposed to be IMO

Replying To MesAmis: "I know Cork beat Clare and all but they're still not very good. They'll still beat this Dublin team easily though.
I'm heading down in anyways, going to the in laws for the weekend, but I've got zero expectations. I'd take a less than 10 points defeat right now." Understand the pessimism how could you be anything else , FairPlay in making the journey easy to go on the road when everything is going well , in Tipp myself watching the young uns ,
Hope we get a performance across the pitch for full duration , if the result doesn't go our way so be it , but we need to rise above what we did last week , senior lads need to lead. Dublin hurlers have allways had bounce back ability hard to see it but you never know.

Donegal Vs Dublin: NFL Div 1 2017 - 11 Like(s)
Only my opinion
There is an end game , its doing the unthinkable and retaining Sam , I have a suspicion we maybe caught cold this weekend v Mayo (hope I'm wrong) Jim Gavin will send his team out to win as he always does , but he will not play a selection just to win , in other words if he feels Dublin's best interests are served in playing a Reddin or a Scully as opposed to bringing back a Bernard or a Bastic Connolly or whoever the man will not compromise , I've yet to see a manager be so diligent meticulous in long term objective planning .
I will make a prediction should we not beat Mayo many will lay the fault at Jim for team selection , for me as always in Jim we trust , I'm repeating myself we KNOW what a Connolly who has been on the go can do v Mayo only the fitness gurus in the camp can say when lads should be brought back , personally I agree it would be great to see some of those lads back but as allways in Jim we trust

Replying To bert09: "So will the dubs be cheering on our minors?" 100% I will want Meath to win , just as I was delighted with Kildares win in under 20 s , anyone I've spoken to wants Meath to do the business , whisper it but we want a challenge in Leinster too , a strong Meath and Kildare makes for a decent championship and that starts with under age talent , don't expect to many Dubs to cheer it will be a reserved support you will get , apart from the odd drunk arriving ten mins before the end

Up the Dub cubs" What evidence is there to say Kildare or Meath will beat us in the not to distant future , on the contrary Id say all evidence points to the exact opposite , a quick scroll through Meath and Kildare pages will quickly tell you how they feel about where they are .
Dublin are in a very strong position , just cant agree Wayno1 with not to distant future .

Well its kicked off , no surprises so far , heading to parnell park tonight were I expect to see fireworks between Castleknock and Oliver Plunketts ER , they met in the league less than two weeks ago and lets just say it was feisty , one of the ties of the first round .
Anybody go to a game can they just throw in a line or two , obviously topic will take a break while the boys hunt for another Sam

I don't think Bridgits will have enough for Kickhams , Boden v Crokes now that's a cracker neither team very pleasant on the eye but very tough to call but I think Crokes may do their bitter rivals ,
Think the fairytale may continue in Castleknock as they might have enough to beat Sylvester's problem being they have a fair whack of dual players ,
Last few years Ive predicted two out of three Dublin Champions , this year my money is on Ballymun.
Anyone else like to call it early

I was a biased neutral last night or so I was described by one of my Castleknock mates , he asked me as a biased neutral what I thought ,
The ref rode Judes savage
The best team won
Judes were out thought
CK obviously is fined if he shoots , or kick passes
The first half was the worst 30 mins of football Ive seen in a long time .
I will be there next week cheering on the Knock , though inside sick that a local rival is achieving what they were doing .
Last word as living in the area D15 , Ive been going on about Castleknock for 4 years , people are only waking up now to a story that started some time back , go down on a Saturday and the numbers are up there with Crokes

I said they allways surprise , didn't have the courage to predict it had a suspicion , they've always been that way , chalk n cheese displays ,
Of course the win and points were important but more than that pride was restored , we needed a committed perfotmance and boy did we get it , savage display in defence hunting in packs tackling with intent ,
Delighted for lads who travelled with hope in their hearts and not much else .

What are everyone's fancies for tonight's games? I reckon St Oliver plunketts and clontarf should account for castleknock and ravens with points to spare.
GAAman41 (Dublin) - Posts:2 - 29/04/2016 15:37:14
Castleknock quietly fancy themselves ,they won in the league less than two weeks ago against OPOR , now this is championship and experience will count for a lot , maybe beating Plunketts was the worse thing they could have done , but its a very young side and they will fear no one.If there is to be a shock this could be it.
Fancy Clontarf to win handily enough.
Fancy Boden , Kichams ,Crokes Annes , Balilinteer wil win very easily enough , unsure between templeogue and Na Finna probably just the northsiders
