Louth have appointed Mickey Harte as their new senior football manager.
The 68-year-old, who only stepped down as Tyrone senior manager ten days ago after 18 seasons in charge of his native county, will succeed the recently departed Wayne Kierans in the Wee County hotseat having been handed a three-year term following a county board meeting tonight. Harte will be assisted in the role by his former Tyrone selector Gavin Devlin with the duo also guiding the Louth U20 team in 2021.
The appointment of the three-time All-Ireland SFC winning manager will come as a huge boost for Louth football. The Wee County suffered relegation to Division 4 of the Allianz League before falling to Longford at the first hurdle in the Leinster SFC this year.
On Saturday, Harte's fellow Errigal Ciaran clubman Enda McGinley was ratified as the new Antrim senior football manager with Stephen O’Neill as a selector. It should be interesting when Louth and Antrim battle it out in Division 4 next season!
