Replying To brian:  "are you being serious? Andy is trying to find new players to add to the panel. This is the opportunity to do that. Think it was pretty obvious that we need a new keeper and Yorke and Hogan have been given a chance. We need a midfield partner for Menton, Keoghan was tried and Conlon did well on Saturday. Some half forwards are needed and again we gave some players a chance.

The players are in heavy training as they'll need to hit the ground running to hold onto a division one position.

I'm hoping against hope you're just being sarcastic with that comment."
Oh mate you took the bait hard

Presume you are lighting a fire here but You are not altogether wrong as we are really struggling to find talent .
Not able to beat either Louth or Westmeath who are as weak as ourselves does not look like progress .

I note from the accounts at Monday's convention that we spent 877 k on county teams in the year just gone . This includes all adult county teams . Included in this fig is 154 k for physio and medical ....up 50 % on last year ...so to be fair we are not sparing the cash on our teams as is often said . The cost also includes 33k which we were told was for video and match anyalisis in the main .

Really struggling to find talent?

When is last time meath had 3 all star nominations in one year?

Shane walsh
Darragh campion
Seamus Lavin
James conlan
Ryan twins
Ethan Devine
Thomas o reilly

Meath got to the super 8s with a very young core but yet because of an experimental December preseason we haven't found talent? Would you honestly expect the panel to be anywhere near full tilt in December? When they are trying to peak for end of jan/feb?

I don't agree that we're struggling to find our best talent, but the All Star nominations don't mean much considering all 3 of them were in their late 20s.
Keogan and Menton have been on the panel since 2012 and McGill since 2015, hardly new talent...

Talent is not defined by age..

So? You claimd the All Star nominations are proof we're unearthing new talent. This makes no sense considering the lads nominated have been in the panel for several years. They're brilliant players, but not new talent in any sense.

My point is we have talent, plus I would argue that as your rightly put it, those players are with the meath panel a long time and have improved under andy to the level they are at now
