Meath Chairman resigns

(Oldest Posts First)

Let's be honest here..........this is not a shock. The County board and all those involved have know about this for months but nothing has been done until now.

The statement itself is a disgrace......'an error of judgement'.......i think it is far more than that.

No sign of an apology for his actions to the club or referee involved?!

I have asked this elsewhere but how come this issue only came to light now some 2 and 1/2 years after it happened, people must have known about it when he ran for the chair and when he was subsequently re-elected to the chair and yet silence??

The county board are an embarrassment in this regard. The world and it's mother saw the Twitter messages shared commonly.

I wouldn't be calling for the man to be tarred and feathered, he made a stupid mistake that reflects poorly on his character. But it should have been a simple case of walk or your getting pushed. How have they let it drag on for so long?

The CB should now issue their own statement reflecting on their own actions in the case since it all came to light.

This is the sort of thing that drives me mad about the Meath County Board, we could write the book on f ups great and small.

Did O'Hollaran do anything seriously wrong? from my understanding no, he sent a silly comment on Whatsapp or something to that effect (haven't most of us in fairness). But his conduct was not becoming of his position and has now caused unnecessary embarrassment and disruption.

Why can't we have a nice, clean, professional setup where everyone is working for the bettermemt of Meath Gaa rather than getting embroiled in senseless nonsense.

Our greatest rivals are currently basking in the glory of a historic 5 in a row, meanwhile our Chairman is resigning over misconduct....and people wonder how Meath fell so far away from the top table for almost 20 years!

I think it has come to light only now because of a certain person losing his job in the co board earlier in the year

Pick our people more carefully?? There were people that knew about this that picked Peter O'Halloran two years ago, and again last year. I ask again why now?? What has happened for this story to break after two and a half years, almost two full years into O'Halloran's chairmanship, there is more to this than what we are being told methinks....
