Club Championship Delay?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Are the club football championship matches going ahead the week the Meath Kerry game? There is still no sign of any fixtures and according to the planner that was thrown together the games are in less than two weeks time. In my opinion two weeks between the Kerry game and the club championships starting again are the least the Meath players deserve.

2 games in 4 weeks is too much is it? There is absolutely NO need for a two week break. Especially with the condition county players are in these days.

As it should.

Also:

"The winner of Sunday's Tyrone-Dublin clash in Omagh will be at a disadvantage as the only team that has to play an All-Ireland semi-final six days after their final Super 8s fixture."

COUNTY teams playing twice in SIX days. This will go ahead and I'm sure either team will have absolutely no problem with it.

Nothing to do with players being able to play two weekends in a row or their conditioning. I'm taking about lads on the county panel who have been on the go since November 2018 and may want a week to have a holiday like a normal person would, something they can't do now with club games coming straight away. It would benefit clubs with county lads to wait an extra week as well as it would give lads a chance to refresh and be enthusiastic for the club games coming up rather than going in lethargic.

Yes,I was just saying it was on that weekend as well.I don't really have a problem with it (games going ahead a week after Meath bow out inter county player's would have the fitness no doubt) club players have waited long enough, but what's another week? I think clubs would like to have more than two training sessions with their county lads for tactics etc.My issue is the whole structure is wrong I mean it's crazy you play two games in April and don't play again till August and throw in the league wrapped up before July meaning alot teams have been idle for weeks, now I know part of this is down to meath's success in reaching super eights which is great but surely they can come up with something better for all.Maybe run the championship after inter county cutting down the number of games maybe groups of three something like that, straight knockout maybe, has to be a better way than now.

do you honestly think we have time for another 2 week break. fistures delayed long enough. being an inter county player is a lifestyle choice.

Your making no sense. Yes it is a lifestyle a choice, so does that mean they can be flogged to death from as far back as June 2018 to possibly October 2019 which will happen to some now.

Sure it be football/hurling week on week off from now on so the footballer can go on holidays after hi s game and still be back for a bit of training before round 4
