Congrat to kildare today beating Dublin Underage is very competitive in leinster. Hopefully our under 20s win leinster title and for two years in row Dublin wouldnt have eitheir minor or under 20 leinster title. We should be really winning this years under 20 leinster title. We have the players to do so. Fingers crossed we need this leinster under 20 and we r good enough to win it.
Just regards kildare winning minor. This is just a little thing but everything adds up. Every year at minor we seem to be in Dublins group. We have to play in our first or second game the Dubs. Kildare seem to be always in a easier group. We play Dublin , while kildare play kilkenny in their group. I feel when we beat Dublin in early rounds it brings on our confidence. Last year we beat Dublin in early rounds we won leinster. When we lose to Dublin in earlier rounds our confidence is knocked. U can see that this year and in 2017 when Dublin beat us in early rounds. My point is being stuck in Dublins group every year aint a help. Kildare are always in a separate group from Meath and Dublin and kildare and have an easier group to build up confidence. For example 3 of the strongest teams at minor this year were on the same side of the draw eg Meath Dublin and Westmeath were on the same side of the draw. kildare were on the easier side of the draw and build up a head of steam with run of wins.
kildare have won 4 leinster titles recently and were in groups separate to Meath and Dublin every time. I think this year is first time in these 4 minor wins kildare have won minor and beat Dublin as they won minor . Being in an easier side of draw is helping kildare. Meath been in Dublin's grouo year in year out is a disadvantage. U want to meet Dublin in a leinster final like kildare today not in the group stages like we did this year. kildare played Dublin at under 20 in the quater finals last week and they were beaten. U dont want to meet Dublin in early rounds.
At minor why does every year are we in Dublins group. Does the county board not see this is unhelpful and disadvantage for Meath. Why is there no open draw every year and year after year Meath are in Dublins group. As I say I think its a disadvantage. Some people might say im saying this coz kildare won. I dont care if people say that its great other counties win leinster other then Dublin. But my concern is Meath and I think and have for a while that the current group set up where we face Dublin every year is not an advantage and kildare are on the far side draw playing kilkenny and not having to meet Meath or Dublin til leinster semi final or final is an advatnge for them.
When we won our two under 17 minor titles last year and in 2017 we beat kildare and Dublin in both years to win leinster. In Kildares four leinster title wins they have never beaten Meath and Dublin together to win leinster minor title in those 4 wins. Its an advantage fair play to them for taking advantage of it. But we need to break this up and look for open draw every year and make sure that in next 5 years Meath are not in Dublin group year after year and kildare are not on the far side of the draw the easier side of the draw playing kilkenny footballers and building up their confidence. I hope the county board can see this.
Again its nothing against kildare it simple its disadvantage for Meath and thats my main and only concern. I feel in last 5 seasons we had three teams that could have won leinater minor title but the draw situation playing Dublin in early rounds group stage year in year doesnt help. We lost to Dublin this year and in 2017 in the group stages there was an hangover in the next few game we lost and were out We beat Dublin in 2016 in early stages of leinster. But we faced kildare in semis after where we were strong favourites . Beating Dublin in quater final meant there was always going to be come down v kildare in semis and we lost in 2016. As I said the draw situation in leinster is a disadvantage for us. The county board needs to act.

I never read so much drizzel in my life.... We where not good enough to beat an average Westmeath team and looking at yesterdays game they did us a favour.
All Leinster draws are open and Meaths Leinster Council delegates witness these

Im just saying that we seem to be in Dublins group every year. Do they not mix up the groups. I think ur misunderstanding me. We have played Dublin at minor in the first or second game nearly every year for last couple of years. kildare always never seem to be play Dublin in early rounds or in their group. Yesterday they beat Dublin I think that first time in their four minor wins they had to play Dublin. We played Dublin at minor this year in the group group , last year 2018 in our group , 2017 we played Dublin in early rounds and 2016 we played Dublin in early round. And of the top of my head I think we played Dublin in early rounds in 2015 or 2014.
If its open draw great. Surely we wouldnt have to play Dublin in early rounds in the next four years. If its open great. I dont know if it was or not. But it just seems we are always in v Dublin while kildare are on the easier side of the draw. We had teams good enough to win minor leinster in 2016 and 2017. This years team showed promise in Gerry Reilly cup last year. We had Dublin in our group , kildare had kilkenny. If its an open draw chances we are due to avoid the Dubs and not be playing Dublin in early rounds or be in Dublins group year after year. Kildare should be in Dublin group next year soon. Sorry I have probaly nor explained myself. But I alway feel at any level it is better to be on the opposite side of the draw to Dublin and then play them in the leinster final. I think most teams in leinster at any level always feel its better to be opposite side of the draw to Dublin. Sorrry for the confusion. I hope that explains my point better.

Sorry for coming across as narky here after such a great win today but are we obsessed with Dublin? There are 18 references to them in this post - a post that was made just as we were getting ready to play Clare! I was thinking of Clare and no other county at that time.

Ok sorry for bringing it up. I have always felt at every level its better to be on the opposite side of the draw to Dublin. I said this 20 years ago on this forum and I said this ten years ago on this forum. We have beaten Dublin 10 times in leinster senior championship in last 60 years. 7 of them were in leinster finals. I just feel when we play Dublin in early round even if we win we struggle to win leinster afterwards eg in 97 we beat Dublin in First round and didn't win leinster and 2010 we were poor in the final after beating Dublin in the semis. The only year we played well after beating Dublin in first round was 1991 but that was extraordinary year and extraordinary team. Its just a believe I have its better to be opposite side draw to Dublin at senior or underage and building up a few wins and then meeting them in leinster final. Anyway I seem.to be in minority of one with this believe. So apologies for bringing it up I didn't mean to annoy anyone. I will leave it there.
