It seems strange the decision to take the second teams out of the various championships. From what I can tell Dunboyne and Ashbourne will be coming out of intermediate, Summerhill, Kells, Seneschalstown, Tones, Skyrne, Dunsghaughlin, O'Mahonys, and Na Fianna will come out of Junior and from Junior B will come Ratoath, Trim, and the other second teams. Is that right?? I honestly don't know if this is better for them clubs or worse? Royalblufill (Meath) - Posts: 284 - 25/10/2019 17:13:21 2245773 Link 0 |
The powerhouse of Meath club football has spoken.. Such arrogance from a club when only a few years ago all those North Meath clubs were beating you!!

It's not arrogance at all so take that chip off your shoulder, it's just I don't think that junior A should be preserved for first teams when there are not good enough to be there The fact is, weather you like it or not there are plenty of second teams better then a lot of first teams head4dblackspot (Meath) - Posts: 447 - 25/10/2019 18:35:30 2245794 Link 0 |
Fair to say the dominance of South meath football is only starting, and down to one reason only, a population explosion. I can see the same thing happening to club football here that happened with the Dubs winning the last 5 Ai. I fear the likes of Ashbourne, Ratoath, Dublnboyne, Cilles will takeover Meath football due to the population surges that they're experiencing. Even Navan clubs will be left in their wake. So not fair for some members on this form to make out that the difference between North and South Meath football is down to footballing quality, it might be partly, but certainly geographical location is playing a role here, and funding too RealTalk101 (Meath) - Posts: 21 - 25/10/2019 20:23:43 2245812 Link 1 |
Couldn't agree more but this not the fault of the south meath gaa clubs so why should they be negatively targeted as been arrogant and rules brought in to protect the bad first teams form them As I said the big club second teams have to play each other all the time now The bottom end of junior A will be so poor it will make a mockery of it head4dblackspot (Meath) - Posts: 447 - 25/10/2019 21:26:18 2245825 Link 0 |
Its inevitable. It's more difficult every year to get rural planning. This coupled with the decrease in the family sizes means rural clubs are goosed. Foley91 (Meath) - Posts: 339 - 25/10/2019 22:30:36 2245837 Link 0 |
I definitely fear for the future of rural North Meath GAA clubs. More lads these days are choosing to move to Dublin to go to college and work, in comparison to 20 years ago where club players would be mostly doing apprenticeships and living at home. North Meath clubs will struggle further in the future, and there's not a lot that the GAA can do about this. It's a wider societal issue RealTalk101 (Meath) - Posts: 21 - 26/10/2019 09:59:06 2245888 Link 0 |
