2019 will be the McEntee's third year in charge and the year where in my opinion we can really judge the job they have done.
Few things I'd like to see:
1) Andy picks a squad full of characters who he knows he can trust and who will implement to the letter what his plans are. Of course Andy has to give the players respect as it's a 2 way street but I really don't want to see players dropping off panel like flies again between the end of the league and the championship- for me Andy badly judged these players commitment and ended up losing players who weren't given a fair outing in the league due to these defectors taking their place during the league. I'd rather see 30 lads who might not be our best footballers be 100% on board than have talented lads who aren't fully invested.
2) Clear tactics from day one. The players are fit and conditioned, that's the big positive from the last two seasons work. Now let's get to work on tactics and defense/attack transition, kickouts and shot selection while maintaining that fitness.
3) I'm not sure what folk think but if a 19/20 year old is good enough such as Shane Walsh, I'd rather see him in with the senior squad from day one rather than spending the year with the u20s. If he's good enough he's old enough, it worked for Donegal. I get the argument about developing lads but we aren't overly blessed with talent currently so we have to make the most of resources. This also frees up space for other lads who could really benefit from exposure at u 20 level.
Play football that supporters can watch, try keeping some of the lads numbered 10 to 15 in the opposition half so when we get possession we have someone to give the ball to. Maybe try and bring a bit of craic and enjoyment back into training.
