Replying To I_Play_County:  "That's another good outdated view there. Good lad."
Why is it outdated? Is the B League not about giving lads games that dont get playing on first team or are in and out of it? Are you suggesting that clubs do not submit bogus lists?

Replying To CastleBravo:  "It'd take years to run a season's fixtures if we obeyed the complaints people have about them.

They don't like midweek games because players are coming home from Dublin.
They don't like games in February because the pitches are bad.
They don't want league games in september+october as they've lost interest in dead rubbers.
They don't want A and B league games on the same weekend because they want to field their A players in B league games.
They don't want to play championship in April because "it's too much of a break till the next round"
They don't want to play Saturdays because some people are working.
They don't want games in May because of college exams.

Etc."
Agree with all of this, given the structures that clubs refused to change this is the system we are left with, as it stands with football and hurling, games are being played from January to December when you factor in U21 and knockout comps also. The whole system needs an overhaul but at least by playing league games early in year lads are still interested, if people are honest, lads including myself do not want to be playing league games after you go out of the championship. it makes no sense. If you look at the planner, there is very little room for change, its not easy for the fixture makers to get all games played. easiest thing in the world is to shot down whats happening, there were big efforts made to overhaul things over the last year or so and it was shot down....

Replying To I_Play_County:  "There is absolutely nothing positive to say about the craziness of Meath gaa and their attempts at fixture 'planning'. Firstly we can all see what the weather is like and now doubt a lot of pitches are cutting up badly and border line unplayable. Secondly not all clubs are blessed (not an attack on the bigger clubs, just reality) with a massive player selection and therefore fielding both A and B league is difficult and requires a number of players to play both. With a long summer ahead and one that will have a championship gap from April to July can somebody tell me the thinking in some clubs being asked to field in both A and B league in the space of 24hrs and in dome cases on the same pitch.

I seen a tweet from St Ultan, they are being asked to play A/B league on the same day!!! Do they want these clubs to not field?!

Clonard have a B league game at home on Sunday at 11am and then an away A league game in Slane at 3pm. I'm not exactly sure on Clonards player number but no doubt some lads will be leaving the pitch to jump in cars to drive to Slane. When they arrive will the game be playable as Slane pitch must endure two games in 24hrs ad their A/B league teams play at home.........and no doubt again they have players in a similar situation.

In a time when we hear about player welfare being paramount this is a laughable situation.

I know there are probably several more examples of this situation for the coming weekend.......will we have an explanation from the county board.........NO CHANCE. Just a stern hand and being told to do what we are told, way to promote football."
Rather than giving off, post an alternative fixture planner that you'd propose. See if you top the one the County Board put out. I'm not sure what explanation from the County Board it is that you want. The fixture planner is well thought out and gives all club players a chance to plan their weekends/holidays etc. well in advance. There are no weekends where the A League and B League fixtures are scheduled together. The examples you gave above are because of cancellations the week before. There are obviously going to be a few hiccups when the odd game is moved due to weather etc but in general the planner is followed quite well.

New revised fixture planner on the way soon. Will be interesting to see how the changes affect lads who have booked holidays etc based on the original one.

never seen such moaning, a game is better than 2 training sessions, the planner has to be changed a little to allow for the longest winter on history, would love to see a few of you trying it, i get it hard to look after one club never mind 58.

This Fixture is up to July, id much rather a yearly fixture and then change or tweak what is needed. Not a 5month fixture planner and then having to go change it.

The current fixture plan is crazy. My son plays U19 football and reserve Football with the club along with 6 of his mates. Neither team would be able to field without these lads. On Friday next both the U19 and reserve teams are scheduled to play. A request to have one of the games either brought forward or played mid-week has fallen on deaf ears. Why are the county board refusing to allow one of the games be changed. The outcome of this is one of the teams will have to forfeit. This is totally avoidable. This is the third U19 game fixed in the past 10 days. There's only 6 teams in the group so plenty of time to play these. When 2 clubs are willing to play on an alternate day why stop them.

Replying To I_Play_County:  "Most teams is not all teams and the gaa is meant to be an inclusive organisation that promotes their games. Forcing the hand of smaller clubs who are trying to give the 6-8 lads who are not playing A game time by entering a B league team and are reliant on other A league lads to field this team are not being considered at all. Fact."
So what happens to the 7/8 players after the first round of the championship when the 15 that take the field for the throw in can not play B League any more ???
I can guarantee you that the clubs will field a B League team in the next round. They will have 15 lads to paly in the B League
Your argument is flawed badly flawed.e
The clubs that are whinging about playing A and B league the same weekend always field teams in B League after the championship first round.
Hurling clubs play A/B league on the same weekend all the time and have done for years and years. To get structures into fixtures its is sensible and then correct thing to have Football leagues one weekend and Hurling leagues the following weekend.
Do you want B League played on hurling weekends ?

The email only states change to Group C of JFC (the big group) Junior B, C & D so I reckon it only trying to catch up Round 2 in B,C,D and Round 3 JFC.

No big deal no big panic and I hope they put on before Leaving to give Clubs a chance. hazard a guess probably when next round A League on

In my view - the under 19 has been a disaster! My club, like yours has a host of lads who play both Under 19 and adult football and like yours we are having issues with fixture clashes - we fielded a 19 team made up of mainly 17's last week! That was good for the 17's as their league is over and no championship until August!

We are also now entering a stage when state exams are less than a month away. So players (or more likely parents!) will be opting not to play - so I can see more walkovers in the 19's league . Our club has made the decision that adult football has priority and that teh 17's will play in the 19's league - but some parents are concerned about the step up!

Under 19 is a complete farce of competition, games fixed on Friday night, lot of lads playing A League on Saturday evening and its bang in the middle of college exams, pure nonsense,

agree its not a big deal playing a and b league in the same weekend and coming from a hurling club we do it regularly with the hurling leagues so the football only clubs should give it a break. we one play reserve football in the morning and reserve hurling in the afternoon

the under 19 is a bit of a disaster from what i can see. the concept of it is a good idea but just doesnt fit in well with the current planner

yes the under 19 is a bit of a joke with most clubs not bothered about it. County board not willing to change any 19 's fixtures even if clubs agree so no one bothered any more about it Under 18 club league should be put together for next year as gaa have lost numerous players this year to other sports as nothing for these lads

The sad thing is that the U19 coukd be a fantastic competition if ran correctly, ie fixtures not clashing but thatvis too much to ask. Apparently different committees organise fixtures for adult and U 19 and obviously they don't communicate

What is with the big overload of fixtures within the last seven days for? Some clubs have four games in five days between hurling and football A and B leagues? Then we will head into periods with no games what so ever. It truly demonstrates that the county board and GAA in general do not care one bit about club players and treat them as an after thought. Also a club like Ballivor that is populated with a lot duel players having to play a football match without any of there hurlers as both Kildalkey and Killyon were down to play on the same night as the football? Total disrespect and regard again.

Why was the game changed to Thursday. It was originally down for Monday which would have seemed to suit Ballivor better. We all know games aren't changed without clubs agreeing
