He wasn't to bad, took the goal excellently but mad a few mistakes as well. TBH the way we played in the first half, dropping everyone back into our half doesn't help our inside forwards at all.

I taught he was Meaths best forward until he went off. The subs that came on looked good and made and impact but IMO O'Sullivan was Meaths best forward who started the game and only one in the first half who looked anyway dangerous

Just saw the highlights there, was never a penalty at the end for Roscommon. Maestro (Meath) - Posts: 473 - 30/01/2018 15:38:45 2072440 Link 3 |
I'd have to agree. Very harsh call. Listening to it on the radio, they thought it might have been given for handling on the ground. Looking at the video (thanks for the link Bob) it look like it was given for a foul on the Roscommon forward. If so, it was very soft. If I was from Roscommon I'd argue that there was a slight pull on the forward, which is therefore a foul, but it's the sort of thing that happens a hundred times a game and doesn't get blown, unless the ref is being ultra fussy. I would ask though what Conlon was doing up on the Roscommon 45 yard line with us a goal up in injury time. That's the time to have 15 men behind the ball inside your own 65, with players taking turns to foul the opposition. Need to get a lot smarter. anfearbeag (Meath) - Posts: 1134 - 30/01/2018 18:20:52 2072509 Link 14 |
Ball shouldn't have been near the area in the first place.

True but hopefully this will be our year for coming charging out of nowhere!

Agreed, but it was never a penalty.

I can see your point loyal but sometimes it warms the heart to get a glimpse of the geansai on the box! Let's face it we don't court the favourites tag well anymore. We do guarantee entertainment for the loyal supporters and neutral alike as just like the proverbial goldfish we are constantly forgetting....how to defend that is!

Lads take off the blinkers.. he got pulled back when he was in on goal. its a penalty.a soft one yes but its still a penalty. The first rosy goal the colgan came off his line far too early and made up the forwards mind and was an easy finish for the lad. The penalty as soft as it was, yes can't really be argued with, likewise had it not have been given there would have been very few arguments!! I wouldn't say the first goal was "and easy finish" by any means but it was sloppy from ourselves. I think you might want to wtch the highlights again though, our full back didn't give the ball away at all, it was S McEntee who made that pass to Flanagan which got caught by the wind and lead to the point!!

That was Shane McEntee who gave the kick pass away for the point in first half. Wouldn't be overly critical with Colgan made couple of very important saves during the match.

Roscommon could have won and should have won. worple (Roscommon) - Posts: 271 - 31/01/2018 11:31:08 2072732 Link 0 |
I think the feeling here westtp is that the top teams don't make a high percentage of rudimentary errors anymore. Possession is only lost when someone either kicks a wide or drops the ball short. A keepers primary job now is distribution rather than being the last line of defence. Agree colgan does show some good potential but needs to keep learning at this level.

Great to see that everyone on here is a real expert , especially when it very Comes to goalkeeping . In 1 on 1 situations it's always better to come out to cut down the angles than to sit on the line .Colgan to do it exactly as the txt book says

Agreed........ALL our players need to get their act together for this level. Look at mistakes throughout the team. Its difficult to make a case for ANY player as a definite starter now. ALL have to up their game if we want to compete against the big boys. EVERY player without exception should be showing they deserve their place in training sessions. This forum serves for us to express opinions . We are not clued in to everything . We often dont see reality ,and therefore we can only expect our selected team be seen as speculation and amusement. Pince of salt. Dont TELL us lets SEE it. Not forgetting the time and effort the lads put in ,but neither should they forget the honour they have in wearing the jersey. nobull456 (Meath) - Posts: 841 - 31/01/2018 17:26:57 2072852 Link 1 |
