No Meath players in Compromise Rules Panel

(Oldest Posts First)

Others may have a better idea but were any Meath players close to getting in the compromise rules panel or is it another indication of where we stand in the footballing world?

First off don't think it's a bad thing. Destroyed two of our former players.
Secondly i heard a few weeks back that we would have no representation.
The rumour is that 3 were asked to attend the camps (keoghan, Reilly, menton) and for various reasons including Meath management views that players would be better served by training with county (which started this week or last) none are on panel.
Now as I said all this is rumours, but when I seen panel and no Meath man on it , it hit me that maybe it is true.
Anyone else heard anything!

Graham Reilly Bryan Menton Donna cha Tobin and James Toher are 4 with the physique for it and maybe Cillian O Sullivan and Donal Keoghan for their drive and guile

I thought Lenihan might have had an outside chance.

I'm not in any way disappointed, I think we have enough to focus on without the potential of being thumped sideways by an Aussie

Otherlad........Unfortunately that is true....no player good enough at present....no argument!...Looking at the standard of football at the co final yesterday would not generate much optmiism either. IF you were to call a spade a spade it is simple indeed. we just dont have the players at present. Unfortunately that is not the full story either. What are we doing to hold/encourage/develop/ players who demontrate potential. We will always have a small number of lads who want to travel for a year or two.good luck to them. I have fully researched this one .Dublin are experts at "keeping"players.Meath dont even know what that means.....YET. How can you expect players to put in the effort required now to compete at top level? .Even be out of pocket, put career/education almost on hold for what?. Another hammering? In some cases players are foolish or not smart enough to just be happy to play club football for exercise. We had one of those lads playing yesterday......INJURED? he looked as fit as anybody else.
We are not at the races off the field either.Dublin dont pay their players and rightly so. Dublin support/compensate/develop and assist with employment opportunities for their men.and in doing so live in the real world of to day Do everything you can to keep the lads you have.
Dublin,KERRY AND MAYO even use the GAA network to help players.......Why do Meath not do it ? typical not smart enough. Yes we are low on players now .That will change provided we recognise and rectify the hole in the bucket syndrome. ALL of this still keeps us within the ethos of the GAA. Coaching ? we need fully rounded coaches....up ya boy ya bawling and shouting outdated Look at Gavin for example it seems everything is pro active with him and Dublin. With us we are still in the 1980/90s time warp...i.e. reactive. Oh god where did those 3 wise men go? they even gave up!

Is there an issue with chronic player unemployment that we haven't heard about?

Maybe that question could be answered fully by the 3 wise men. In fact i would welcome any comment from them ,particularily on their findings on Meath football to date. player support etc. I do recall reading where one of them had a long shopping list. Dont know what happened the list or why we never hear ANYTHING from them. Are they still in position? If not why Not?.
