Mohill club notes

Leader Grant

Everyone in Mohill were delighted on Wednesday last when it was announced that, after years of applying Mohill had been awarded the biggest grant available of €300000 from The Leader Fund. This will provide top class facilities for all the generations of players in the future and is so badly needed by our Club. We have one of the strongest clubs in the county, but our facilities are from the dark ages and our players deserve better. All systems are in place and ready to go when our local contractor Padraig Bohan is ready. We thank all the people who helped put together the difficult applictions over many years, we have finally reached the promised land and nothing can stop us now.

Tim Slevin

The Club extend deepest sympathy to the Slevin family Station Road on the sudden death of Timmy on Saturday last. this is a second blow to the family in 2020, having buried their mother Tina just a few months ago. Tim was a gentleman through and through and beloved by all in Mohill. They came to live in Mohill in the early 60s. Tina started her B&B and Tim being a handy hurler immediately started playing for Leitrim and Mohill/St Finbars. He won seven County Championships and finally at the ripe old age of 50yrs he retired with his last medal in 1977. Through the years the Slevin family have supported the club in every way and Tim was delighted this year when we won the Senior Championship. Station Road will not be the same without Tina and Tim. Ar dheis Dé go raibh said.
