Kilkenny boss Brian Cody described his side’s Leinster SHC final victory over Galway as “huge” for both the supporters and players.
The Cats delivered their first Bob O’Keeffe Cup in four years tonight after a late victory over the Tribesmen at Croke Park, where Richie Hogan came off the bench to inspire them to the 2-20 to 0-24 win.
The provincial triumph marks Cody’s 16th with the Cats and moves them into another All-Ireland SHC semi-final.
"It means a huge amount, first and foremost it's a Leinster final and that goes above so many things because it's a couple of years since we have won a Leinster final,” he told RTE Sport afterwards.
"It’s huge for the people and huge for ourselves tonight and of course if gets us into an All-Ireland semi-final in two weeks' time which is a wonderful place to be.
"We’re absolutely thrilled leaving here this evening but we’re absolutely hugely aware that there’s a huge prize out there and we’ll see the quarter-finals next weekend and see where they go and play our semi-final.
"At the end of the day if we’re not leaving her in two weeks’ time as winners, the enjoyment of tonight will disappear very quickly."
