Definitely.
We just look after our own game and I think we have a shout.

Excuse ignorance lads but Cian McBride, anyone know what story is there? A specialist fielder like him can make a bad kickout look like a great one and we could do with winning more if our own kickouts. Hasn't made a squad despite being on the panel I think.

Definitely a better Meath team that competed in the leinster final last year and arguably a worse Dublin team.

Match ups will be critical, have to try contain Kilkenny, Don't think we have anyone capable of marking Fenton, we will need a fast start for sure,

This is knockout football and yes anything can happen but lets be all honest here, we will need all the luck in the world and our best performance this season to try get even close to them and be in with a shout in the last quarter BUT who knows. We definitely should try use the four quarters to our advantage ( water breaks ) and come up with a good game plan that will need 21 very fit players.

Lastly one of my hobbies is weather watching and I'm forecasting a washout for next Saturday so get them boys down to Bettystown next week Andy and plenty of training in the water

Hon the Royals

Wild odds on meath...im laying the double at 9/1 for Leinster and 66/1 for all Ireland.

Small fracture in his foot so couldn't play the last few games. I don't think it was a really serious one but wouldn't make this game anyway

I would recommend bringing Shane Walsh out to 11 and perhaps start Joey Wallace. Subs made an excellent impact, with Wallace, Scully and Hickey all showing urgency and hunger which wasn't always there in 1st half. Its a 75 minute game now so either way where starting or coming on again the next day, they'll have an important impact but we do lack a kickout option in half forwards.

Seemed like good news when I read he was available for Meath, expected to see him make appearance in league. Ive read nothing since. As you say we could badly do with a good fielder, seems like a lost art to us. a given for any Meath player in the past.

Yes Dublin don't look quite as good but Kilkenny and Fenton look better than ever. Really need to be aggressive with both and perhaps man mark Fenton as well as Kilkenny. Game plan will be vital as you say and 21 players must perform out of their skin. No use in holding back as its all or nothing. As well as kickouts our overall transition from defense to attack needs to improve and speed up. Ball handling will be vital for wet conditions.

Cheers for update. He won't be fit for the Dubs either you think?

I haven't heard anything about him getting back to training yet so presume not

We have to look at what success looks like for this game. sooner we stop measuring ourselves against the greatest gaelic football team of all time the better. So success to me would be a measurable improvement in the kick out plan, continued upward progression of inside forwards of walsh & morris, restriction of Kilkenny to influence game , limiting Fenton to just an ordinary performance , and then a plan around o Callaghan & Small to restrict goal opportunities. The real icing on the cake would be to see numbers 2-7 of the Dublin backline ...being asked to defend for more than 50% of the time.
that plus a 5, 6 0r 7 point defeat and we reset for the spring league with a upwards movement on the graph

What?, based on what evidence?. We are a million miles behind the Dubs unfortunately. Name one Meath player that would get on the Dublin team?. I used to think Keoghan, but based on yesterday, I'd struggle to see even him make the team.
