Following his side's devastating defeat to Cavan today, Down star Caolan Mooney took to Twitter to count his blessings.
Playing a game of football - never mind an Ulster SFC semi-final - this year would have been the furthest thing from the Rostrevor clubman's thoughts after he was hospitalised with a fractured skull and a bleed on his brain following a late night assault in Newry on December 30 last.
But Mooney, who spent three years playing Aussie Rules with Collingwood, defied the odds to get back on the pitch and is now looking forward to becoming a father in the New Year.
TweetThat’s the 2020 campaign done, as much as it’s hard to accept defeat the way I started this year I’m delighted to be back playing again. This year had a negative start but progressed as time went on but the biggest positive coming from it is I’ll be becoming a father in 2021 😎
