Holdwright, Seamus

Seamus will forever hold a place in the annals of Raharney hurling club after captaining them to a 4-12 to 1-8 victory over Pearses of Mullingar in the 1967 senior championship final. He also lined out at full back in the 1973 win over Castlepollard, which secured a sixth Westmeath senior hurling title for the Deelsiders. His team-mates in those glory years included household names such as Sean Greville, Jack Shaw, Donie Smyth, Kevin Lynch, Mickey Flanagan, Jimmy Nugent and Nicky Weir.

Seamus, who also enjoyed success with Delvin, is remembered as a strong and capable hurler who commanded the square in impressive fashion. He made numerous appearances for their senior team.
