Replying To Loyalroyal17:  "I 100% agree with you on Ben he without a doubt is the rough diamond, great free taker and scorer, major competition for Biggy ha. I have been of that opinion a long time about him. It was only a matter of time before he got a proper chance with us. Heres hoping he doesn't mess it up as you know yourself he can lose the head too easy but hopefully with more experience he will learn to control this. I reckon him & Biggy playing together is going to give a boost to the team as the two of the most energetic on the field...in my opinion. Feeling fairly positive about our new young team!"
If biggy is the most energetic player on the pitch then we will be in major trouble.

This is the problem with games on TV, lads who haven't a clue have some stupid assessment.

Replying To Furlong1949:  "I dont mind if you disagree with what I say, or think what I say is rubbish.. Its good to have a debate, I could be right I could be wrong. Its just a single irrelevant opinion. But I think u r being very unfair to me. You have focussed in on one line I said and have exaggerated it. I have written on that the Meath have produced big performances v top teams in last year v Galway etc extensively. If you disagree grand. I have wrote about the state of leinster football extensively. If u diagree with my comments on that grand. No problem. I have written about how there has been few wins for leinster teams in this decade v top teams extensively. Again if u disagree thats no problem. If u are critical grand. But I have written lots lots of long messages about the above and in one small message in passing I make the comment about our players not getting on Dublin team once. I was responding to that nearly every week, every game people on this forum for years have said No Meath player would get on the Dublin team. And u didnt criticise that or any of them, many many many comments. I write extensivly on other areas. Which if you want to criticise no problem thats your perogative. I might wrong I might be right..My opinion is irrelevant and unimportant. But I try my best to not degrade or insult anyone of the forum. But it is unfair to say I have been going on and on about our players not getting on the Dublin team when I have mentioned it once in passing. It seems people go through my messages zoom in on one mistake and highlight or exaggerate it. I write in long winded away..Some people don't like that. If u think what I write is rubbish. I have no problem with that. If u want criticise, criticise. But try and criticise on what points Im trying to make eg Meath play well against top teams. If u disagree grand. But dont zoom on one throwaway comment , that was really referencing that so many other people on this forum have said that no Meath players would get on the Dublin team. Why did u criticise me and not all the people that spoke on this. I think that was very unfair. Im sure you will go through this message and pull me up on some throwaway remark but not talk the pages and messages I have wrote about us playing well v Galway Rossies Donegal lst year. Criticize disagree debate it all good. But be fair. And the chap Oldham above who criticised me for mentioning that Alan Forde and Padraig McKeever very good players. Whats wrong with saying two Meath players on a Meath GAA forum are very good players. Whats rule have I broke talking about Meath footballers on Meath GAA forum. All I said was they were very good. They are current players and hopefully both will be back next year and play for the county for years. If u said there not on the panel this year , so I shouldn't mention them. Fair enough..But why have you not criticised nearly every second person on this forum who have mentioned players who are not on the panel. There has been lists and list of players and discussions constantly on this forum about players missing or leaving panel for months. Discussiin on what players should be on the panel. I mention that two of these players are very good. I am highlighted in doing so. Why didnt u highlight and criticise the months of messages and comments regarding this topic by others. Im not the only person who has talked about players missing or players who have left the panel. I would say there is very few on this forum that have mentioned it. Yet Im the one that is highlighted. If u don't like my style our mentioning the past grand. But I was talking about two current players who should hopefully play for Meath for years to come. Anyway I feel in my waters , in my guts that we can do this I could be right. I could be wrong. Im just a simple bogman fron the backend from the backwoods of Meath who loves his county. And I believe in our players. I believe in the management.I believe in our values and our traditions. I believe that Meath football stands for something special. I believe that u can never right us off. I believe that it doesnt matter how far we have fallen, how many years we r down we will always always always bounce back. Its what we do. If we dont today. Grand. But we will someday. But I think we can do it. I cannot read the future. So I could be wrong. But this is what I believe. Tyrone have had 4 great teams in 80s 90s 00s and now. Best Tyrone teams ever. In everyone of those decades they have come to try and win Sam with those teams. And everyone one of those teams Meath has beaten up to the current one..We defeated their excellent team in the 80s by 10 points in a div 2 league final. In the 90s they came with another excellent team. No one and I mean no one gave us a chance. And we won by 9 points in an All Ireland semi final. In 00s they can5e with their best team ever. In 2007 no one gave us a chance and yet we beat them. I n this decade we could have beaten them in 2013, we should have beaten them in 2015 and I believe today we will beat them in 2018. And another Tyrone team is beating by the Royals. Our minors our under 17 and our under 20s have shown the way. It times for for our seniors to man up and do the business. And hopefully at 7.00 on saturday Navan will be rocking as Meath have just rocked Tyrone and Meath have just rocked the GAA world to its very foundations like we did n 96 and 07. It will be said across the land across the country on sat evening once again the lenght and breath of the country once again people will utter those words that have been said down the ages " You can never ever right of Meath". This is our time , this our monent. Stand up one and all be proud of your county and Navan will rock on sat evening. Come on An Mhi. Im sure if we lose this will be brought back up and laughed at . But I dont care. I believe we will come back its not a question of if its a question of when we will come back. Hopefully I belive this evening is the moment. Prediction Meath to beat Tyrone with a massive performance. We can do this. A united Meath, Meath united will never ever be defeated."
Furlong1949 "A united Meath, Meath united will never ever be defeated." Is this team united?

I all ready feared that attendances would be down for our home games but this will definitely have a big impact on attendances I think. €20 is far too much, even games in division one for the first few rounds aren't a great spectacle so don't know how they justify a price increase.

Everyone has their opinions on Biggie but surely most people would say he is one of the best 6 forwards CURRENTLY on the panel?

Replying To latouche25:  "Well it's to be expected that Royal Dunne a la McEnroe, would bring out the CB spin. We achieved our goals for the year. The reality is. We scored 4 points in the Leinster final. The worst ever by a Meath team. We have played 2 games in the super 8's and have lost heavily in both. How or where have we improved under Mc Entee. He said he would put the foot back in Meath football, yet we are passing it more now than ever. Have we really gone to the point of bringing in a Louth man to help Meath football. The fact that he has his son on the team who is an average club player undermines his credibility. Kells have the best forward line in the county. Why is Hanlon Reilly or Matimo not on the panel. Indeed Oisin Reilly at midfield would be an option. If we want to improve its time to move on and bring in a manager who can unite the county. Mc Entee is to decisive"
Sure if we bring in 3 lads from Kells why not bring in the Kells goalkeeper as well? They're backs are also good so maybe Jonny Quigley?? We could have a kells man in the goals, backs, midfield and forwards.

Replying To bert09:  "Does anybody know if Brian Conlon is back in the set up?"
Don't hear much about who's in or out but doubt he would go back in under the current management but I could be wrong. Think the only ones in from Simonstown would be Sean Tobin, Shane Gallagher, Kane and maybe Crouchy.

Replying To gardentree:  "Staying in Div 2 is going to be a hug battle, I don't think that we have the players to keep us in Div 2. The management are doing some very strange things , playing Dardis in goals is just plain stupid and they are making a complete joke out of the young lad. Is the Dun/Ash lad on the panel ?"
Heard Colgan left.

Replying To royaldunne:  "Not nit picking but what has t O'Reilly done more that Brennan??"
Completely agree, Ben Brennan is a far better player. Who is younger shouldn't come into it especially when Ben Brennan is only 27. He has offered far more when playing in a Meath jersey and is agressive and will put his body on the line.

Replying To royaldunne:  "The problem in this game is the injuries to James McEntee, Brennan O'Sullivan primarily and the injury to Reilly since obc, has biggie got 70 mins in him? How long is mcentee out for? How bad is the injury to Brennan? How bad is injury to O'Sullivan? I'd be more hopeful if we knew the answer to these questions."
How long before Biggie gets over this injury Royaldune? He came on early against Dublin in the O'Byrne Cup and Cillian O'Sullivan didn't play at all that day but yet he played 60 mins against Cork. Do you think he will be able for 70 mins against Offaly?

Replying To summerof09:  "Not my cup of tea I'm afraid. I don't agree with the personal jibes for instance calling a young county player a party animal or another player a baldy maestro. I'm surprised Meath GAA approve of this type of thing. Why can't they they get proper reporting on matches. Take a look at the Dublin GAA website now. Match reports and round ups from club games this week."
I partly agree, I enjoy reading the blog but for such things to appear on the offical county board website and social channels is a bit strange in my opinion.

There are 3 goalkeepers in there not including Dardis. How many goalkeepers do you need?

This is a revolutionary day on hoganstand Meath forum. Royaldunne for the first time has given Biggy a bit of criticism. It is thought Biggy is not happy with the criticism from his biggest fan and has reached out to arrange a meeting in the Greville Arms Hotel on Thursday to thrash this out.

I don't know paddy or know why he left but i doubt it was because of abuse he was getting. That's 4 regular starters not available for next year has that ever happened before? Think it might point to something else.

Meath v Carlow 3 Jan 2018 - 14 Like(s)

Replying To LeitrimRoyal99:  "I'd love to know where these stats came from. I did a bit of research and in the 4 champo games last year we scored 1-68, so 69 scores. In order to account for 45% Biggie would need to have scored or assisted on about 31 scores. He scored 10 points so that leaves 21. I then watched the highlights of the 4 games on Youtube (short but best available). Of all the scores that Biggie didn't score himself in the clip he assisted on 2/14. So in order for Royal Dunne to be correct Biggie would have to have directly assisted on another 19 points not shown in the clips. Don't know about you but I never remember Biggie picking out a pass, only thing I can think of is maybe he is fouled for some frees. But the stats seem a bit BS without anything to back them up"
Or who compiled these stats, RD himself or someone within the Meath camp? Its absolutely remarkable that he had around 45% involvement in all scores two years running. Does RD know which competitions it involves? O'Byrne Cup, League, Championship? Would it be possible to know his average distance run by Biggy in the championship last year RD? That would be an interesting one. He did say "The facts are there. Read the stats." so I can't wait to read his detailed response on this matter.

Replying To Evernal:  "Well lad I've a season ticket and if you've been following I went to Clare turned back and went again. I've been to all games with my daughter. Its fair weather fans such as yourself i have a problem with. Only turn out for big games in Croker. Were you in Owenbeg few years ago? Ennis Ballybofey? I could go on. I thought this is in an open forum and if you don't agree with it fair enough move on but don't you dare question my loyalty to the cause. For me the league is the be all. Championship is skewed in my opinion hence why I wanted to win some silverware."
Well if you were at all the games like I was I am disappointed you would bring up MODS trademark second half collapses. Very insulting to this team in my opinion.

Replying To royaldunne:  "Actually it sounds like he walked. After donegal game. But pointless in discussing it. He was a fantastic player and like ken rennicks at the wrong time. Again all the best to the man. He owes us nothing. And more importantly no one outside of himself and Andy have heard what actually went on , as it should be. Unlike a few others over the years. Class is permanent."
Jesus RD you were the one that was telling us he was injured then. Make up your mind. Nearly as bad as the time you claimed biggy was involved in 40% or 50% of every score Meath got in the championship and then couldn't back it up.
