Despite my love of riling some people on here, at this time I wish all posters and staff at hogan stand the very best wishes in these uncertain times. We all have loved ones with immune issues. So do as we are asked. And may we all return at end of March safe and healthy

I Had A Dream - 15 Like(s)
Last night as I settled down late last night I looked at the 6 by 4 poster of biggie on other side of room (I had it over bed but herself insisted I move it). Anyway as I drifted off I could hear biggie himself talk to me, he said yes we can. My dream begins with leaving Westmeath at 8am , herself going nuts saying match isn't on till 4pm, however I have heard that a bloody seagull is getting very close to my seat. However she convinces me to remain longer before we go, with a threat of a ban from ahem. We leave and all goes smoothly until we arrive near Croke Park there is guards everywhere , I am told to pull in , I see outriders of gardai and people running along side 192 D ,Lexus, Merck's, bmws , everywhere, it comes apparent as a ambulance with flashing lights on pulls in and allows the convoy pass, that it's the dubs arriving a young lad in a aig top takes a photo of one of the players the people running alongside the cars come over to him and demand 6k for the photo off the young lad, the father produces a cheque book and the small amount of dubs backroom team (about 200 ) dispersed. News is now coming in that the Meath bus has run out of diesel on the navan rd, help is requested from hq , who promptly tell them to feck off, not to be deterred biggie mento and Stoney start dragging the bus to hq, they are hardy hoors after all. In stadium I get in and there's that feckin seagull looking at my seat. Up in the hogan there is array of political figures , including Leo paschal mary Lou and even bertie is back all in their dub tops, I see a line Meath top is Helen mcentee, the quietly spoken lady who happens to be niece of Andy. The artane band is in fine form , the hill is full, I see realdub, wayno (with a plastic bodhran) jackeen, jimbo, Connolly beside myself there is furlong (he is writing his memoir) about 10,000 pages so far he tells me, htaem is wearing trousers with Velcro so he can streak when Meath win, jinxie is behind me beside him is royal legend, jack Geoff is writing a strongly worded email on the merits of splitting Dublin, not in 2 or4 or 8 no he thinks it needs to be split in 16 , and that all counties should apply to Boris Johnson looking for the half a billion they promised ire ,(of course dubs won't get a cent) it will just close the gap a little. Up in the commentary box we have Joanne, pat joe Thomas and colm. All are asked for their opinion, pat says Meath don't have intensity, joe says there's no real men in Meath, colm says that Meath can't beat dubs that's why there's no orurkes on the panel, Thomas says that Meath had two lucky escapes v Carlow and Laois and both are more worthy to be there than Meath, and that Meath were booed of the pitch. Down on sideline Marty gets the views of two former players ciaran Whelan and Nigel Crawford, Marty asks nigel what he thinks Meath's strategy will be ? Before he answers Whelan hits him a punch in the face in front of everyone, (some things never change). The game starts mento drops the ball mcentee who sends a perfect pass to Banty Conlon who fires a rocket pass cluxton, Wayne is so annoyed with his clubman he puts his fist through the bodhran and gets stuck. Cluxton kicks out the ball over sideline Newman takes a quick one to keoghan who makes a beeline for goal low and hard it rattles back of net, biggie is brought on, he picks up ball in Meath half makes a run through dubs beating them all he finishes ball to net cluxton makes a haims of kick out land ball strait to McMahon who sends it back into net. A few scores are traded its now well into second half we playing into hill Cillian O'Sullivan sears in the roc drags him to the ground. Penalty, up steps micky Newman the boos on the hill are deafening but above it all micky asks what time is it , and in unison Meath fans respond. It's five past cluxton time, before micky buries the ball. At this stage I wake up. Hoping for next part tonight.

No Palestinian Flags - 10 Like(s)
I'm getting sick to death of the Palestinian flags been brought to gaa games. I don't care if you agree with it or not. Gaa is not the place for displaying political messages, particularly not from another region (that has questionable human rights issues of its own people) . I'm not pro Israel either. I just want to go to a game and the only flags that should be allowed are those of the counties participating. David gaugh wasn't allowed to wear a bracelet, micky harte got hell over his stance on referendum. I ask all stewards to confiscate these flags on entrance or immediately when spotted. The gaa is not here for anyone's political views. Join a political party and stop going to games if that's all you go for.

Donegal Have The Friendliest Supporters In The Country - 8 Like(s)

Replying To kiloughter:  "Obviously things have changed since the 1990 semi final between the two sides. Also I heard a few Donegal fans at the '92 final had 'not from Meath' written on their green & gold regalia (Meath were in the minor final that year). The old Meath might have received a different reception in Ballybofey."
I think the new appreciation comes from the league match. After the tragedy of 4 young people dying , Meath cb following a request from the management and players made a presentation of four candles before the match. Donegal fans appreciated the gesture and it was actually mentioned to me on Sunday, somethings transcend sport . And I would hazard a guess that is where the respect originated from.

Replying To Rayo:  "I bet the Galway Fans who did arrive early wished they had stayed in the bar.......................not only the worst Galway minor team ive ever seen, probably the worst Minor team from any county to ever take the field in croke park. Shocking stuff."
Very bad form to speak of children (yes children as they all u18) in those terms. Cop yourself on, I have given out more than most about senior players from every county. However in my life I have never said a disrespectful word about a underage player. Kids are off limits regardless if they lose by 100 points. Pity we all weren't so perfect as yourself when we were 16/17. Disgraceful behaviour

Dublin V Louth - What A Farce - 8 Like(s)

Replying To TheUsername:  "David Clifford is a teenager in Kerry. David gets up at 5:00 O clock every morning to walk the five miles every morning to get water, picking up fire wood along the way. David carefully balances the water on his head and fire wood on his knees to bring home so Mammy can have a nice cup of tea and a bit of toast (no avocado). After Mammy has had her toast, )without avocado). David goes out to the fields, David runs for miles to catch mountain goats for milk for his whole family, David likes how they sometimes put the crown on the goat. Winters are harsh in Kerry, and David often has to have his hood up on on his holey jacket. While he is growing into Daddy's wellies nicely. David often wishes that Mammy liked cornflakes instead of tea and toast (without avocado ) for her breakfast. David then goes to school, David is very tired by now, but the hole in the roof often keeps him awake and the rain helps him keep a perfect quiff, because the wet look is in around Killarney. David walks the 20 miles home from school every day, often having to be careful of the Paddywhacker buses that pass him by. David is sometimes splashed by these buses as they drive by and looks up to see Dublin people drinking Champagne and designer coddle int their heated seats. David would like to taste coddle just once. David sometimes wishes he was from Dublin too. David used to walk home from school with his favorite friends, Mark and Steffen, they arent there anymore and he sometimes sees them at the Christmas nativity play and Goat crown day in the summer, they have big red faces and look bigger and stronger, David thinks they may have moved from Toast (no avocado) to cornflakes for their breakfasts. Davids favorite colors are green and yellow, he remembers seeing a big shining milking jug one time when he was very small. David though of how much milk he put into that if he could catch a goat. When David has his homework done, David climbs three mountains and 100 miles to play football with his friends. The manager told him if he plays very well he can get the big shiny goat milk jug. David likes this and will play very very hard. David is beginning to grow into Daddys boots. Davids favorite part of football is the oranges they get after training, it helps David on the return journey up and down mountains. David curls up at night in a corner of the room, sometimes there is an ember from the coal in the fire, he can keep warm for a little bit. David will be up again in three hours, to get the water and firewood for Mammys team and toast again (no avocado). David often dreams of Bernard Brogan, David wishes he can play football like Bernard. David believes that Bernard does not have to play football with a beach ball and has boots that fit him. If you would like to help to help David grow into his boots, please send a minimum of 1 mill euro to Kerry GAA, in donation, 7 mill if dealing in tax payers money. You can also but a chicken dinner from 2000 euro a plate. Please contact The Plaza New York for more details. Please help us provide cornflakes or avocado for David and his toast. This has been an appeal from Kerry GAA. * Played to Eva Cassidys fields of gold."
Hehehe. I enjoyed that.

Replying To daytona11:  "Id agree furlong re the manager. If the players arent there what can be done? If the players are not or cannot compete at u16 minor and 20's its futile to expect them to produce the goods when they turn senior. In Kildare we have put and emphasis on developing our underage structures and this is slowly begining to pay off. Meath really need to do the same. Thats where things need to change. It'll take 10 years. Andy McEntee cannot make a silk purse from a sows ear. We havent won yet in div1 and will be relegated. We have given Tyrone Monaghan and Donegal a real rattle. But lads i wouldnt take 1 Meath player at the moment."
That's refreshing. Kildare not taking a player from another county. Well at least that's a move in the right direction.

A plea to Parnell Park - 7 Like(s)

Replying To hill16no1man:  "Hahahahahahaha All this from a Meath man who regularly visits the dinosaur that is pairc tailteann. seriously you should have been at the Dublin club final between plunketts and vincents couple years ago that was Parnell park packed to the rafters literally standing in the stand no room on the path at side terrace yet nobody had any problems it went off smoothly. Didn't realise the meathers were that soft these days, make sure you bring the hand sanitizer the bars might not be swept since Louth v Wicklow haha oh maybe an idea bring a bottle of water with you before you go the ground haha come on man Parnell is similiar to most county grounds of its size. Louth and Meath both have run down grounds for home venues surely of all counties ye shouldn't be overly fussed at facilities at this stage."
While I have often disagreed with you in many things, to laugh at children's safety at a football match is quite pathetic and beneath most GAA people, I'm disappointed in you hill. As for PT, absolutely shocking facilities, but none of them endanger patrons. I will not respond to anything else you wrote as I find it petty tribalism, and nothing to do with the main issue of having gates open to avoid crushing ala Hillsborough, particularly for young children (girls in this instance) ill bid you good day and have a think on that.

Replying To Galwaymaster9:  "Get over yourself.. 2001 the day joyce destroyed and finished Darren Fay and Meath seems to have stayed with you.. Galway deserved the win despite missing a few of their big players and coming from 1 6 to 0 1 down to win.. Stop blaming the ref"
Ahh would you go away out of that. Meath were by far the better team, Jesus wept at least admit that. Galway were cynical and the ref lost control of game in last 10 mins of first half. As the youngest team in div 1 we will learn from that. But please don't start with Galway were the better team bs , they were not pure and simple

Donegal V Meath - 7 Like(s)

Replying To Green_Gold:  "The final scoreline flattered Donegal. Meath were in this game until about 5 minutes to go, they played some great stuff but just ran out of steam. Meath found themselves in a great position midway through the second half when 2 points up, they had a couple of chances to extend the lead but didnt take the and Donegal took over after that. The only real problem I can see with this Meath side is their kickouts, not good enough at this level but otherwise they were excellent. Donegal will have to seriously improve to beat Kerry but I am confident we will. We probably needed a good hard game to prepare for Kerry. I fancy Meath to beat Mayo. Been a huge admirer of this Mayo team but they just seem to have run out of steam, on the other hand Meath are a team on an upward curve."
Yeah. Kick outs have been a problem all year. Cost us 3 points per game. But colgan is trying his best we have a excellent young keeper coming through but he still very young. We getting there. While I'm disappointed, some of the lads played really well, very disappointed with the amount of Meath fans who turned up, when we do become contenders again these games will be packed with bandwagons, sorry I support in good and bad times, and this young Meath team who are definitely on the way up deserved better than that. Sorry , rant over. On another note congratulations to donegal, I do sincerely hope you go all the way, your fans are a credit to you, and while me and family were severely outnumbered in the part of stand we were, you were voice full, but never derogatory and very humble in victory. A credit to gaa. Well done and I sincerely hope you win it out. Onto mayo with hope in our hearts Hon the royal.

A plea to Parnell Park - 7 Like(s)
We are only a week away from Leinster championship meeting of Meath and Louth, and majority of people who went to this venue last year have bad memories of the venue, now maybe staff were caught on the hop and didn't expect a sell out (actually probably over sold) but this year there can be no excuses, I genuinely feared for the younger member of my family safety as pushing and shoving while waiting for gates to open became very dangerous, I put my then 9 yo daughter in front of me with a Louth man saying he would try to keep the front from pushing back as i tried to lean back to stop any shove forward, all this while stewards put up signs saying they would not open gates until x time, there was unreserved seating and the Qs were getting bigger as everyone tried to push to front to get a better seat in stand,. The clubhouse was packed I had arrived somewhat early and tried to get a drink (non alcoholic) after waiting unsuccessfully for 20 minutes I left and looked at the bewildered family who were having a christening in clubhouse been taken over by quite loud and excited Meath and Louth men. Once inside the shop ran out of everything including water, on a hot day this was particularly bad for children. So PP you know what's coming, this game is already nearly a sell out, be prepared. 1. Open gates early , at least 90 minutes before throw in. 2. Do not have a function in club on that afternoon. 3 . Please ensure basic water supplies at venue, (go to cash and carry) The last 2 are more for people having function and for children attending match. 4. Double the amount of stewards. I have never worried for the safety of my children at a match (bar 10 when some idiots tried to get a rise) what makes the GAA great is the family day out aspect, the kids embarrassment at their dads childishness (well mine anyway) but the want to go to a match is always there. I only say this as I have my 5 tickets for this game bought , my now 10yo daughter for first time in 4 years doesn't want to go, the same girl who went with me to newry on a terrible night , and is like my mascot she goes to every game I go to, cause she is worried about last year and same thing happening again. I have told her it wont and they will be better organized this Time. Please Parnell Park make this a enjoyable and safe day for all attending. This post is not intended in anyway as a slight on Dublin GAA or the officials at Parnell park, this is a plea to just have this event better organized, no one wants someone to be hurt or severely injured at a football. Crushing at sporting events should never have the possibilities to happen. Thank you admin for putting up this post.

I am actually disappointed if I don't get 5/6. And one of those work for hs so has a few accounts. Actually if I didn't get the thumbs down I wouldn't post as much. Ahh jasus can they both not just lose? ?? Joking aside I married a dub and for that reason I wouldn't mind seeing them win, on the other hand I could have a good 6 months slagging off the in-laws if Kerry were to win, hmmmm. Also as a Meath man I have a dna dislike of dubs football. But if any team deserves to win 5 in row then it is this dubs team.
