Replying To Richieq:  "Apparently the decision on what side would be developed first hasn't been decided on and will be finally decided upon when they county board are informed how much funding they are receiving from the Major Soorts Infrastructure Fund, from what I hear online sales, particularly of the three draw option for €250, exceeded expectations. A lot of the clubs in the more populated areas have sold very well too but clubs in the more rural less populated areas were finding it hard and requested more time to try and sell their numbers"
That's good news, as I heard that the terrace side was first to be "redeveloped". Like it is ok as it is. If the final product is going to have two stands, then I would first of all put a stand on the hospital end and then replace the current stand. If only one stand is being considered then I would replace the present stand.

I would not cover the O'Mahony's/Town End. Why? Facing west and rain blowing in would be a problem as well as cutting out sunlight from the goal area thereby restricting growth in spring and autumn in particular. All year long artificial light is required to keep the grass growing at the Davin/ Canal End of Croke Park. This is expensive and unnecessary and undesirable in a provincial venue like Pairc Tailtean.

Yeah I really can't understand why you would start with the terrace first, it really doesn't make any sense. Even though doing the stand first will leave no dressing rooms it will need to be done and a solution will have to be found.

just feedback i gotrichieq, also no need for three stands, one good one like in portlaois and tullamore, these three stands will be nothing but building grounds for jackdaws, how many games we gonna get ? feck all. 2 stands will be closed all year round

The notion of developing the terrace first seemed to come about as starting on the stand side first would lead to no seats, no cover and no player facilities for nigh on a year unless temporary facilities were put in place, Also the demolition time of the terrace side would be far quicker as the asbestos, and the structure of the stand itself, would mean a longer demolition period as opposed to clearing the terrace which is a concrete covered mound of clay. Although the terrace is the most serviceable part of the ground I can understand the reasons for starting that side even though everyone, county board included I believe, wants to start on the stand side as it's kippiness has long been acknowledged

Sad to hear that type of feedback, I would hope that mindset changes. I think PT will get plenty of games when redeveloped, it's location and motorway access are great advantages, the fact that the place got two qualifier matches one day after another during the summer I think was a nod towards whats to come. I would definitely have the two stands on either side completed, that gives a 14'000 seated and covered capacity which not many can boast and would be a fixture drawer in itself. As for the goal ends well my own preference would be to leave one goal end as a property developed terrace anyway but that's down the road, getting Phase 1 done with a new stand, floodlights and bigger pitch will make a huge difference in itself

I would be fairly confident it will start then, by all accounts the house draw is now in profit territory and selling very well, government funding due to be announced in April, why not sooner I don't know but that's the time for announcing the funding for major sports infrastructure projects now it seems. Perhaps a home game v Offaly in Leinster will be the swan song.

Six years seems like a long time.
Not construction wise but the amount of time things can go wrong from from a funding or any other administration or management issue. We don't have a good history in this country of delivering good stadiums. Or any infrastructure for that matter without some sort of budget issue.
Would happily see it fully closed down for 2 years if it meant it got done and we moved our home games to Croke Park on a temporary basis.

Sure Croke Park is open to rent for home games according to Dublin players Philly McMahon, Jonny Cooper and Ciaran Kilkenny as well as Jim Gavin. Why shouldn't Meath ask for the use of Croke Park for home league games seeing as it available to rent out? Somehow I think Meath would be delivered a big fat no from the suits up there!

Plus we don't have the money to waste on renting Croker......

This won't delay development too much as that game is very early in May, even if second round was in Navan v Carlow (assuming we beat Offaly or hoping rather) it takes place Sat/Sun 25/26 May.

I sincerely hope that No club will delay this long overdue development, I'm not having a go at the chairman, but he is elected to lead, and make decisive decisions for the betterment of the county, not bow to every little whim of any delegate.

In Pairc Tailteann, it's intended to keep the place open during the phases of development.

Agreed, worrying to hear certain delegates coming out with silly comments like "we need state of the art football, not state of the art stadium". These people fail to realise the financial benefits of a fit for purpose county ground, anyway we shouldn't be surprised at club delegates not looking at the bigger picture or doing what's best for the county.......just ask Eamonn O'Brien!!!

It is disturbing the level of influence these delegates at meetings seem to have. They are completely out of touch with the modern day GAA. Just looking at some of the comments that come out of Kerry delegates surrounding the captaincy issues is another example. Majority of these delegates act of there own bat and don't communicate anything back to their clubs.

In Navan, the plan is to keep the place open during redevelopment
