Club Championship 2016

I hope a lot of people in this group were at the Na fianna v navan game, all football hard hits and work rate. You can see at the end both players were exhausted coming off the pitch. I couldn't pick any player that stood out they were all excellent, Na fianna's main men the queeneys, Downey and mcDonagh were class. Navan had Daragh smith in particular was brilliant up and down the pitch. Overall great game Na fianna's midfield copped the kickout plan and from that they dominated. Na fianna won the first half then Navan showed there class to come and win the second half - draw fair result.

RoadRage Draw was fair result I thought no Na Fianna player stood out (good team performance) but they had some very good free taking, Gregan who I had not come across did quite well until black carded. With Nom a team performance same as Na Fianna with McGuiness in midfield when he came maybe the stand out player. After that for NOM there were 5 or 6 good performances with nobody who stood out. Na Fianna were on top in first half and NOM were on top in the second half. It appears from reporting that big Sheridan stood out in midfield in their local derby

Hope a lot of the users here were at skryne v seneschalstown game last night and compared Brian Clarke to the 3 full forwards on the Meath senior team

Wasn't at the game, but Brian Clarke is underrated without a doubt.Whether he could step up to senior I'm not sure. For example Donal Lenihan has been the best snior forward for the last year or so,but has struggled(so far) with Meath.

Wouldn't be too sure how he would do with the county but he has been unbelievable this year, scored 1-9 last night and and 1-6 against Rathkenny.

'Best forward in the county playing senior football' that is an opinion that would not be shared by all, or many who watch senior football (he is good though)- I expect that at least one or two of the best forwards/defenders in the county are with the county champions of last two years - I would have though that is why they have been able to win these senior championships. Of course who wins this year is another matter to be decided. You do not win competitions in your grade without having some good players and that is especially so in senior-obviously there other posters here who think differently. You will only win competitions when you are good enough to win as it is something that you cannot talk yourself thru like a tread! Same goes for the counties that win AI's- they win because they have some of the best players and pretty good management.

Comment made 'Hope a lot of the users here were at skryne v seneschalstown game last night and compared Brian Clarke to the 3 full forwards on the Meath senior team'- I would add that he may not have to step up very much to be as good as some of our forwards.

Good win by Moynalvey yesterday evening (pretty decent side) and very close affair with O'Rourke coming on and doing quite well, although some strange decisions by Ref. I see a lot of competition in the senior this year with many teams in with a chance.

thought that Moynalvey out muscled Simonstown last night and they were more clinical with Cillian o Sullivan directing . Simonstown fought hard to the end and provided a great game. Na Fianna are very exciting outfit to watch especially when Mcdonagh gets the ball . Has to be best full forward in County . Ruairi O Coilleann also brilliant player but Geagan did super job on him. Na Fianna learnt a lot from last year and must be one of the favourites injury free for champiomship

Massive win for summerhill today, anyone make it over? Oldcastleon a roll in intermediate. Two wins in matches they may not have been expected to win with easier matches to come. Ashbourne another team that have started well, hard to know if they can keep their better players from seniors duty. Colmcilles scraped past the bracks who missed first half penalty. Lost momentum after that. Championship will be a different ball game now after the 3month break due to the complete mess up in fixtures

Brian Farrell was saying on twitter how attendances are down and the Meath County Board need to change the prices back to €5.

Barney spot on!

I used to go to two games over a weekend, now only one.If a lot of people are doing that, well thats less people at games and less money.

I notice there are no reports in yet from either Gaeil Colmcille or Rathkenny from their game on Friday night.

Donal Curtis came on and worked his magic while Kells had two players sent off.

Hats off to Curtis who is some servant to his club, he must be around 43 at this stage.

Yea thats brilliant, now lads who had holidays etc booked for the end of july/start of august can just give up on em!!! Absolutely ridiculous the way its done again!! Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see why once the County league is finished that during the months of April and May they can't run off the whole group stage and then knockout after the county championship, teams then know exactly where they stand in tems of winning/relegation or finished and can plan their own lives

Interesting to see Conor Gillespie in the photo on the main page.Is he even training with Summerhill? Fair to play to him for staying involved regardless.

Really looking forward to this now, bored of talking about the county stuff at this stage until the Manager/Andy Mac issue is sorted and we can move on.

For now it's down to the serious stuff, only wish it was this week.

Should a great senior championship . My favourites are to OMahoneys to retain. Teams in contention are Senchalstown , Na Fianna , Summerhill, Donaghmore and possibly with less chance Ratoath and Dunboyne. A lot will depend on injuries to big players but if all stay injury free the final will probably be the same as last if the draw goes that way.

Training all year. Only one championship match played. Now three championship games in three weeks. GAA are a joke. Won't be bothering next year, nor will many others...
