Replying To Ratoath Royal:  "Poor result for Nobber in losing by 6 to Dunlavin.
Though Clann na nGael stopped the rot by beating Ballynacargy 3-8 to 1-9. They're now faced with a big task of beating Kildare's Ballymore Eustace (who oddly won the Leinster Intermediate club championship in this decade)."
Good game in Lomans yesterday. Think the guys name is swaine who needs a serious look at for county.

Don't think so !

Very true !

People will say they only lost by 2 points but it was a very poor performance from Ratoath. Let Garrycastle walk through them a number of times and were a bit naive.

Yeah defense was all over the place tbh.

Great game of football for neutrals but a very poor crowd for a big between Westmeath and Meath champions.
Garrycastle far better side on the day and were probably 5/6 better than Ratoath.

Pathetic attitude from the former Lomans player, whoever he is. It might explain why his club is so unpopular in Westmeath. Most neutrals in the county were rooting for Garrycastle in this year's county final.

Not those in castledaly. But I do know Lomans aren't that liked either.

Hard to disagree. Rathoath defense was shocking. Forwards were good.

Garrycastle and Castledaly might not be best buddies but there is a healthy mutual respect there and I personally know a fair few Castledaly lads who would want Garrycastle to do well in Leinster. I find it intriguing that a Meath man seems to know so much about Castledaly people.

Wow!! Don't bet on it buddy...Nothing in the original post warranted that response. Hard luck to Ratoath from a "nearest neighbor" and to Nobber who have been exemplary champions for their hometown! Lot of naivety in both performance but onwards and upwards and damn the begrudgers!!

Have lived , caoached (formally) , worked and raised a family in Westmeath for almost 2 decades. But my blood runs royal and always will. That's how I know about the club scene.

Come back to this forum when you've won 7 all-Irelands. I reckon we'll both be long gone before that happens.

Well done RoyalDunne. You basically ruined the thread with your nonsense about Westmeath football and its rivalries. Trying to stir the pot with Westmeath posters. Do you think anyone on the Meath forum gives a fiddler's f*** about rivalries in Westmeath football or if Garrycastle are popular or not.

Rather than discussions about the merits of this Ratoath team and what they might or not might not do, we had you dominating it with your Westmeath nonsense so people didn't even bother posting about the actual subject matter.

Grow up.

Odd post. There were more Meath clubs in Leinster than just Ratoath. I've no great love for Dunboyne but I was 100% behind them last year, like I was with the 4 other Meath teams competing in Leinster this season. If a Meath person supports a non-Meath club against a Meath team in Leinster, that says more about them than anything.

Disappointing performance and result yesterday. Just couldn't consistently reach the levels of the Summerhill game and our naivety in defence was ruthlessly punished by a quality, experienced side.
Clann na nGael the only Meath club to win any Leinster games this year in either code.

Do Meath ever get home advantage in the Leinster Senior Championship. It is always an advantage and even more with the low standard of officiating run by the Leinster Council compared to Croke park organised games.

From someone who was at the Ratoath match. With all due respect this was a weakened Ratoath team from the one in the County Final, Yet they would still have won if there was a referee who was properly trained and proper linesmen . We saw blatant home team refereeing and Ratoath players punched, blocked and pulled in front of linesmen who were only able to stand holding a flag with their gob open but nothing coming out.

Pat Doherty (Croke Park games administration) was at the game. Will he report back?, Will he take action?.
Hopefully.

Garycastle more street wise and used dark arts in stopping ratoaths free flowing movement Eamon wallace and Rooney were particular targets much to the annoyance of the Ratoath supporters , strange starting 15 for Ratoath subs made a difference whereas Garycastles subs had the opposite effect, At halftime and again with 10 minutes to go Ratoaths goose looked cooked but credit to them for nearly pulling this one out of the bag, garycastle better overall but glad to get out with a victory
