I see Donegal have received info that they will have 4 home games in Division 1 next year, one of their away games is a trip to Navan, anyone hear of a provisional fixture list for ourselves? If we going by last year we probably will only have 3 home games this year....... Richieq (Meath) - Posts: 3590 - 19/09/2019 19:11:17 2237654 Link 10 |
Doesn't that 3 vs 4 home rotation only apply if you are in the same division as last year?

I think you're right. It's mathematically impossible to have the 3/4 home/away split across all teams in all divisions. Say the 2 teams relegated from division 1 in 2019 had 3 home games in 2019, and the 2 promoted teams from division 3 had 3 home games in 2019, and also, the 4 teams in division 2 in 2019 that are remaining in division 2 in 2020 had 3 home games. Because they had 3 home games in 2019, you'd have all 8 teams in a division 2 expecting 4 home games in 2020 , which is obviously impossible. We saw this ourselves a few years ago when Meath played Monaghan away 2 years running because we both got promoted in between. That said, if we "take" Cavans place in Division 1 (assuming 2nd in D2 replaces 8th in D1, and 1st in D2 replaces 7th in D1) I think we'll get 4 home games, as Cavan only had 3 home games this year. Hopefully we get donegal and kerry at home at least. I'd prefer Dublin too but it's not a bad away trip.

id love monaghon and galway in navan and hope to win those two games and pick up a draw or win somewhere to stay up. tyrone in navan would be great 3 winable games , no point playing dublin in navan or kerry. we could take donegal iin navan dickie10 (UK) - Posts: 532 - 22/09/2019 19:52:09 2238327 Link 0 |
We could take Dublin and Kerry if we draw them early. They come back training later then most so will be there for the taking in February.

Want 3 wins. Would love Monaghan (owe them a few) Galway and donegal or Tyrone at home. Think we could win all 3 of them (wouldn't be as confident with donegal though) Kerry dubs will be away and probably mayo away. Think if we get that fixtures we will remain in top flight, which has to be the goal. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 17035 - 23/09/2019 20:30:23 2238629 Link 0 |
Of course we have a chance. Come the summer no leinster county will. That's just the reality and I won't delude myself into thinking we do.

Fair enough but I'll always disagree with meath having no chance against dublin but I do realise it's a slim one come the summer, I agree with you regarding the funding going into dublin and the gaa will have to act upon it soon, the problem now is it could take the guts of 20 years to fix there mistakes.

Looks like we have Donegal at home in round 2 Richieq (Meath) - Posts: 3590 - 29/09/2019 15:43:44 2240043 Link 9 |
I had it in my head for some reason that we finished 2nd in division 2 this year. If I'm correct in my assumption that 2nd in D2 replaces 8th in D1, and 1st in D2 replaces 7th in D1 (but I've been wrong before...) we'll actually take Roscommon's place. Roscommon had 4 home games last year so we may only get 3.

I think the final throws people off. But yeah we topped division 2, so if you right we take Roscommon place

I never thought that it was a case of "replacing" another team. oldsam_newsam (Meath) - Posts: 638 - 29/09/2019 19:43:43 2240095 Link 0 |
Every 2 years the fixtures are drawn again and that is what happens for next year so it doesn't matter what position we finished this year. Barney123 (Meath) - Posts: 676 - 29/09/2019 20:02:20 2240099 Link 11 |
