Dunshaughlin pitch is definitely in good condition and to be fair always is but I think it is too small and tight for modern game, they should work on their new pitch to bring it to the same standards as would be better size for championship games

You seem to have missed the 1-15 that the Moores got against Summerhill, the 3-15 against Rathkenny and the 6-21 against Longwood.

To be honest - I wasn't paying to much heed to the Rathkenny or Longwood results as both Summerhill and Ratoath scored well against them too. 1-15 against Summerhill was decent alright and certainly worth noting. Beating Summerhill was a very good result for them.

Tones have a new huge pitch in Gibbstown, as big a pitch as there is in the county. Great for big games in dry conditions. There was an issue with drainage though Analyst (Meath) - Posts: 1338 - 11/09/2019 18:02:17 2234520 Link 11 |
They didn't look like a super outfit against Simonstown

Simonstown were on an entirely different level to Na Fianna. It was men against boys and you were stuffed by almost 20 points. Na Fianna might give Summerhill a run for it as its a local Derby but for me Simonstown and Kells are the two form teams and I expect them to possibly make up the County Final pairing.

Summerhill will go very close, they will beat na Fianna comfortably. Kells would be a lot shorter odds only for they always fail to get over line. overthehill72 (Meath) - Posts: 334 - 12/09/2019 10:47:46 2234675 Link 0 |
Is it a new pitch in addition to the pitch that's there already? if so, it should attract some big games assuming the drainage issue is resolved?

Yeah its an additional pitch not really visible from road. Not sure if the issue is fully sorted but there were a lot of experts on hand who seemed to be well versed on these issues.

Curragha or simonstown will lift the Keegan. Hon d ha royler (Meath) - Posts: 199 - 12/09/2019 15:10:17 2234770 Link 2 |
Curraha have now been put in an awful spot with fixtures, 5 of their players will play hurling with ratoath on sunday and then will have to play ashbourne in the pre-lim quarter final on the tuesday. County board need to take a look at themselves and start looking after the players Hontheboys19 (Meath) - Posts: 2 - 12/09/2019 16:16:34 2234794 Link 0 |

I think you are spot on in terms of the pairings! I think Curraha will beat Don/Ash - they have improved game on game. Gotten a few guys back in since the early rounds and are stronger all round than they were against Dunboyne (which they could have won) and Na Fianna (which they should have won) I think they will really put it up to Kells but ultimately I think Kells have a little bit more experience that will count - especially when matching up the full forward line V the Ha full back line. I can't call the Na Fianna - Summerhill game. Both have had good performances and both have had poor performances. I think the Hill might just edge it because of their experience over the past 2 years in particular! I am a big fan of what Anthony Moyles has done at Dunshaughlin but I can't see them beating S'Town. I went to the S'Town Dunboyne game on Sunday last and was really impressed with Simonstown. They have grunt for sure but they also have some very skillful players. Sean Tobin and Nicky O'Brien were exceptional up front. O'Kane plays like a 7th forward! Shane Gallagher played as a type of sweeper and cut off everything into McCarthy, Leneihan and McEntee (david). They are the best team I have seen this year so far! Skryne have also been hugely inconsisitent! But they were very professional last day out against Dunshaughlin. When everyone else seemed confused about the qualifying process they knew they had to win to qualify! They have that bit of steel about them that comes from tradition! Ratoath are only starting to build a tradition at this level. There only loss this year was by a point to Summerhill and that was down to a last minute goal! They looked good early on without many of their so called star players - now some of those lads are back! Is that a good thing or a bad thing! We'll see. I think this game will be tight and I think it will be a bit of a dog fight! It could be the making of this Ratoath team to win a game like that! Obviously there is a way to go yet but finding it hard to see beyond a S'Town Kells final - with Simonstown my favourites at this stage! Agree I think Curraha will beat Don/Ash unless Menton gets the finger out and starts to play. He was very poor against Moynalvey. Kells will get a contest if it's Curraha though Summerhill and Na Fianna is interesting. Are Na Fianna poor or did they meet a top side in Simonstown. It looks like the latter and so they will give Summerhill a game for sure. Summerhill good side though Ratoath and Scrin. I still fancy Scrin now they are in knockout stages . Yes they have been playing poor but you can't put a price on tradition. Dunshaughlin have improved but they beat a poor O 'Mahonys team who lost Bray early and then they lost to a Scrin team who are playing poorly. Hard to gauge where they are at. Simonstown have been very impressive. Seem to be really well structured and setup and play at a serious tempo. Look really well coached and could be anything Dunshaughlin could get a lesson and have it all to do Talking_Sense (Meath) - Posts: 209 - 14/09/2019 08:15:45 2235147 Link 0 |
