Just wondering what the dunshaughlin & skyrne supporters thought of the parking set up in trim yesterday, cars everywhere in car park and all over the place along the road, one steward outside and about 15 inside, intermediate supporters from game before trying to get out, never seen such a shambles thelutch (Meath) - Posts: 856 - 09/09/2019 18:56:41 2233935 Link 0 |
Wouldn't be too overly familiar with a few of those teams , but would be hard to disagree with that post

Go back and read a bit more carefully - the original post was about Donaghmore/Ashbourne, not Ratoath. Don/ash have probably missed the boat all right, when it comes to winning a Keegan cup. Ratoath look to be a team on the up, and could win one in the next few years. anfearbeag (Meath) - Posts: 1134 - 09/09/2019 21:58:33 2233986 Link 11 |
In the Summerhill group it went to score difference as Ratoath, Ashbourne and Summerhill had all beaten each other. In the Skryne group Skryne had beaten both Dunshaughlin and Navan so they finished top of that threesome on a head to head basis, Dunshaughlin had then beaten Navan so they finished second (third in the group). Silly rule in my opinion, should be based on score difference but the rules this year have it this way.

If, let's say, Seneschalstown had beaten Kells. Would head to head have still been used to separate a 5 way tie or does it only apply for 2 or 3 tied teams? Think they're going to have to clarify that rule for next season. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1198 - 10/09/2019 09:56:14 2234033 Link 10 |
It has the appearance of a place built when we all had more money than sense. A typical Celtic Tiger white elephant. But looks well. They need to be mindful of a few things when putting fixtures there. It would be awful if a large match crowd clashed with a funeral across the road. alternative parking would need a steward on the road for direction or a guard. If cars start down the lane to the pitch carpark everyone gets snookered. But a fine asset to work with Ashrules (Dublin) - Posts: 342 - 10/09/2019 10:12:47 2234035 Link 1 |
Trim is an absolutely magnificent set up.... but they do not have enough stewards etc to help with parking. I know that they get an awful lot of games so its hard to expect the usual small number of people to give up so much of their time. But it is one of the very few championship venues that don't have someone to do a line or umpire if required. Maybe the county board should be supporting them more than they do

I agree, Trim were playing in the championship at the same time so you can support your team and run an event at the same time unless you have plenty of help.

Trim is a nice set up but Ive been to games there and the parking situation is a nightmare when the car park is full, Cars parked both side of the road outside on the road and cars cant get past . . have to park in Neighboring Estates For the Countys second best pitch this isnt right I did a quick tot up of the Football Championship games in the pitches and obviously the top2 are Pairc Tailteann and Trim But its the ones after that that make surprising reading Pairc Tailteann - 21 Trim - 13 Dunshaughlin - 8 Walterstown - 7 Skyrne /Cortown/ Ultans / Athboy - 6 Surprised Don/Ash (4) and Pats (2) got so low considering the grounds and the money invested, maybe geographical reasons (or maybe not) Maybe they will get more games as the bigger games come in and bigger attendances Looks like Carnaross , Drumbaragh, Dunsany Kilbride Nobber only got 1 game each crowleysyellowwristband (USA) - Posts: 15 - 10/09/2019 14:32:05 2234125 Link 0 |
Pats don't get many games as they're geographically poorly located for matches.

Athboy.... got a lot of games in earlier rounds... wonder why that was considering the pitch is shocking and the facilities for players even worse... it seems to be a lot of who you know going on. Why would Dunshaughlin get more than twice as many games as the far superior Ashborne given that they are only a few miles away from eachother.... I think the make up of the cccccccccc might answer a lot of these questions...

No surprises to see Dunshaughlin and Athboy getting big games considering the make up of the ccc. Ratoath, with excellent facilities and parking etc and just down the road from Dunshaughlin, get very few games if hardly any. I wonder why that is! Drumconrath seem to get a lot of games, maybe a few of those will go Slane direction for the next while...... Analyst (Meath) - Posts: 1338 - 10/09/2019 15:33:28 2234143 Link 19 |

Think the Ashbourne pitch is being relayed again so thay could have something to do with not getting many games RR (Meath) - Posts: 74 - 10/09/2019 18:14:31 2234170 Link 0 |
Can smell jealousy here. Fantastic asset that was built with the future in mind, planning it from the mid 90's apparently. Typical celtic tiger white elephant, ridiculous comment. As for stewards, plenty on hand there, even when Trim play. Also, if a steward is directing cars and an accident occurs, the club would be liable. Na Fianna the dark horse, they are a super outfit and will cause a upset. Wiseman7 (Meath) - Posts: 16 - 11/09/2019 12:51:57 2234386 Link 0 |
Apologies - I did misread your initial post! Not sure what the story is with Don/Ash. Great facilities, big playing numbers, minor champions last year! Maybe they struggle to hold onto players. I suppose you can't rule them out yet - but the way they are struggling to score - 8 points against Ratoath and 7 points against Moynalvey - it is hard to see them scoring enough to get past Curraha!

Agree with you there! Being able to park in the school beside the ground and access the pitch area from the school is great too. Pitch is in great condition! The grass cover on the Ashbourne pitch is a bit thin. I hear it is being resurfaced so maybe that is why they don't get too many games.
