Head for Ryan's on Trimgate Street. Mick and the staff will have a warm welcome for you.

If you're looking for a pub and a bit of grub then head for The Central. Great spot for food.

If coming via the M3, take the Navan North exit.

The dead rubber match therefore has no effect on the winner and loser of the series, other than the total number of matches won and lost"
So then this isn't a dead rubber. ? As should we beat Kerry by say 3 and mayo win by 1. It has a dramatic effect on the end result.

That's an attacking looking side from Andy for tonight with campion McMahon and Devine in the half forwards. I'd personally Rather Shane mc was dropped then James with Devine in the middle but good to see campion start, deserves the chance. Delighted Lavin is fit, has had an incredible season and is coming into his own.

With David Moran back kick outs are going to be huge here, we cannot go long as he is an animal

Best of luck to the lads today, they've given us our most successful season in years and for that deserve great credit.

Be brilliant for them to sign off with a win but regardless of what happens today, I hope peoole turn up and show their appreciation to the team.

Difficult to pick but most of the bars are just 3 mins walk from the square in mid of town (beside AIB, BOL) and easy to move from one to other and take your pick. Also O' Mahony's club house bar at entrance to the pitch.

Ryan's at the top of Trimgate Street is the second closest to Pairc Tailteann after Fitzsimons. A big pub which is usually good both before and after game.

As other posters include there are several pubs around the square which are also good such as The Central and The Royal Meath.

Enjoy

Good to see a strong line up announced. While there may be 1 or 2 changes before throw in delighted we won't use this as a game to give young lads a run as I've heard a few this week saying we should.

Good performance again this evening so well done to the lads. Why Campion hasn't been playing all championship remains a mystery! Was he injured does anyone know? Looks a class act.

However starting to get very frustrated with a couple of things:

Freetaking- it's time we got a free taking coach or someone in to coach the mental side of free taking. We must be the worst county in Ireland for free takers, no exaggeration. None of our free takers seem to have a consistent routine and it's just hit and hope. Newman prob best of them but he is totally inconsistent and that's not good enough in Div 1.

Goalkeeper/kickouts- it doesn't help when we have only one midfielder but it's a joke at this stage and buck stops with management. Been looking at dreadful kickouts/dreadful strategy for 3 years at lest now. Time to address it. We look like a junior club team at times with our kick outs, it's embarrassing.

Along with retaining the panel and adding to it, these are 2 biggest issues for me.

Another solid performance and we are consistent. Thought Campion, O Reilly and Mc Mahon (First Half) did really well. Mc Coy and Gallagher under pressure but it is one of the top forward units in the land so to be expected. Overall we are headed in right direction, Conlon never touched the ball and how or why is Dardis not getting a chance.

Another solid performance, there are areas that must get better before next year.

1. Kickouts and goalkeeper, just needs to be at a different level both movement off the ball and execution.

2. Bench strength, we need another 2-3 impact players available to us plus keep this squad together

3. Composure and execution, have to start working easier scores and taking the right decisions.

4. Keep the panel together, can't afford to lose any of our best players or players with potential.

So many bright spots from this year. It's a young panel which has taken a huge step. It's difficult to contend with these sides for 50-55mins and we have done that all year. Shane Walsh, Darragh Campion, James Conlan, Thomas O Reilly, Ethan Devine etc when is the last time we have had so many young players come through and make an impact.

Donal lenihan, Ronan Jones would be two big additions if available, certainly lenihan next year will be. Cian Mcbride and some of the other young players will be looked at and the likes of Lavin, McGill, Gallagher and the young players above will all improve.

Get Andy under contract and the most important players committed and we can take another step next year

Played fairly well and did a lot right. We look much more of a proper team now than in previous years. But same failings as per previous few championship matches against top teams. Kickouts a problem. Free taking a problem.
We seem to be in matches but seem to not to take chances/ make bad decisions around the time the game enters the final quarter and games get away from us. I wonder is this a bit of mental fatague kicking in, maybe down to the fact that we are just not used to being in big games against very good teams (we have been so long stuck in division 2?). A few times players passed instead of shooting, the chance was gone and we ended up passing the ball backwards. Hopefully some of the better players who opted out will commit next year (how is Harry Roney playing for Skyrne/ how's his fitness?, he looked brilliant a few years ago).
Overall looking forward to Division 1, we definitely have progressed this year.
