The panel don't need "fans" like you. Prob best to avoid PT full stop. Premier league is back soon anyway so I'm sure you wouldn't watch the rest regardless of how far meath got

I would of thought we go an unlucky draw, if losing Leinster finalists were in group 2 instead of losing Munster finalist we would have had Tyrone in croker and roscommon in Pairc tailteann......A far better chance of going through. And anyway who did Kerry beat to get to super 8s.....Clare and cork......it's amazing how Clare were labelled as tough sticky opponents for Kerry but a handy draw for us. Anyone that can go to PT Saturday and doesn't, and particular for such an idiotic reason as a "handy draw"..., doesn't really belong at meath matches anyway. Best year since the late noughties and up to div 1, regardless of what happens result wise the players deserve a full house.

Any injury updates coming out of the camp? Newman and Lavin are big losses if unavailable. men_of_49 (Meath) - Posts: 1962 - 01/08/2019 14:23:16 2219447 Link 0 |
Couldn't have put it better.

Since when do Kerry celebrate beating Clare. Paidi called the Kerry fans animals. We could do with a few animals in Meath.

Ah c'mon......We celebrated beating Clare cause it qualified us into the super 8s and also got that rd 4 qualifier monkey off our back, that's not the same as Kerrys yearly beating of clare in munster

I don't see this as dead rubber at all. It's an opportunity for the team and management to apply the lessons from the last two games against one of the best teams in Ireland. We won't get this level of intensity and competition for another 11 or 12 months so we need to make it count. Also a win would be a big boost for us in our first S8 year ahead of the Div 1 league. We need to field our strongest team and go out with the shackles off and play to win. Treating it like a testimonial to the wider squad will be a badly wasted opportunity to learn and improve. Havd we not thriwn off the shackles in last 2 games and lost poorly not saying use panel for run outs but we could bring a little twist to it for Saturday.kerry will want game at full intensity we need to just vet half time conserve energy and then go for it second half.

I don't think Andy will put out a lesser team (that been said, there is very little between some on team and some not). The only changes I envision are enforced ones, lavin ,Newman , Brennan ,Reilly Ryan are all on the injured list so is ocaoilean, from the panel the starting team will probably not have any of them apart from maybe Ryan who might be fit enough to start. (Hopefully all are fit , but doubtful) So there will changes to team. But enforced ones only.

This is another step in our preparation for next year. Not a dead rubber at all. The Div 1 league is the only major silverware we can win next year and all prep should be geared towards it.

Only going by what I seen in croke park looked like a hamstring, if it was (hopefully not) then can't see him playing.

I'm the most optimistic of Meath fans, but even I would consider it a stretch that we could win division one next year (maybe year after) consolidation next year is the priority imo

Dead rubber is a term used in sporting parlance to describe a match in a series where the series result has already been decided by earlier matches. The dead rubber match therefore has no effect on the winner and loser of the series, other than the total number of matches won and lost Jackpot (Meath) - Posts: 199 - 02/08/2019 19:43:42 2219872 Link 0 |
