I am not losing sleep either, But I would lying I haven't major concerns. About Shane Mc Entee especially playing against Oshea and Vaughan. No disrespect to our lads but Moran is a quality Midfielder and played really well the last we are going to have do some similar to that. Mc Entee is not a midfielder.

On a separate note, great to see Niall Kane back for Simonstown the other night. RoyalSteel (Meath) - Posts: 13 - 19/07/2019 09:52:43 2213050 Link 0 |
The only midfielder we have is Flanagan, the rest are doing a makeshift job, wouldn't be too hard on either. Mcentee had a bad game last day, but was quite good inleague , I don't see a alternative at the minute.

Harsh on Menton . He has contributed 3-7 from play in this years championship and has consistently been one of our better performers . Strong as an Ox and very little opposition moves go through him. Yes McEntee is struggling to adopt but I would think his days as an inter county mid field man are numbered and his future will be in defense ......possibly the half back line .

Any opinion on Harnan in midfield? Depending on availability of Ryan to come back in his place. I know our half back line have been brilliant for us and tinkering with a proven formula might not be a great idea. If we are to increase our standing and beat the top sides we're going to need something extra in midfield, that bit more physicality and an engine. Not a slight on Shane McEntee but we need a different type of player in the middle to trouble the big boys at this level.

Yeah I'd love to see Harnan in midfield and suggested it a while back. Really think he has the attributes and engine on him to compliment Menton and trouble other teams. Gives room for Ryan to come back in to because the current trio of Harnan, Keoghan and McCoy have been excellent and you couldn't displace one of them on performance so far. Would also like Walsh to get a start and use Conlon as an impact sub against a tiring defence that might give us the impotice and scores we seem to lack in the last 10 minutes against the division 1 sides. I think jones is the longtime option, was also disappointed that we hadn't Kennelly this year. No slight either on the two players in middle, they have been asked to do a job that was needed. And they both stood up for the county. I would actually like to see a midfield pairing of jones and mento or Kennelly next year. But we have to make the best of what we have, I wouldn't be adverse to harnan in middle this week if Ryan returns

Here's my team for Sunday. As I said in an earlier post I'd like to see Harnan in the middle but can't see Any changing things. At this stage the only places realistically up for grabs are in the forwards. men_of_49 (Meath) - Posts: 1962 - 19/07/2019 16:29:08 2213227 Link 0 |

Apology accepted. Mayo are a good side who have achieved alot more than us. We cant take all star players for granted.

Anyone know why Ben Brennan didn't make the panel for the Donegal game. Is he injured? Maybe RD will know. Barney123 (Meath) - Posts: 676 - 19/07/2019 19:46:36 2213269 Link 11 |
Anyone hear anything about Flanagan and Reilly being out for Sunday?

Shane was shoe horned in the middle during the league. We got promoted so from that prospective it worked/got away with it in Div 2. As we come up against Div 1 teams Mayo Kerry Dongeal is clear to see its not working. We need to change it lets not kid over selves.
