We scored 4 points in the Leinster final. The worst ever by a Meath team. We have played 2 games in the super 8's and have lost heavily in both. How or where have we improved under Mc Entee. He said he would put the foot back in Meath football, yet we are passing it more now than ever. Have we really gone to the point of bringing in a Louth man to help Meath football. The fact that he has his son on the team who is an average club player undermines his credibility. Kells have the best forward line in the county. Why is Hanlon Reilly or Matimo not on the panel. Indeed Oisin Reilly at midfield would be an option. If we want to improve its time to move on and bring in a manager who can unite the county. Mc Entee is to decisive" Sure if we bring in 3 lads from Kells why not bring in the Kells goalkeeper as well? They're backs are also good so maybe Jonny Quigley??
We could have a kells man in the goals, backs, midfield and forwards.

Take off the blinkers please. All three mentioned have been in Meath senior start up panels over the years and have either dropped themselves off or were released having not performed when in with the panel. You seem to know these lads fairly well so if you are doubting what I am saying go and ask them that yourself. 3 superb players, I will 100% stand by that, but obviously don't have what it takes to make the step up to a inter county standard unfortunately.

Beano and Seamie have been in with the county in previous years. OR asked in at the beginning of this year and turned it down. I stand corrected. How many different managers are we after having since these lads came on the scene? But yet none of them have pushed on and got onto a panel for championship? I just think people are too quick to blame management for not picking all these "obviously good enough players to play county". End of the day, roughly 90% of that Meath panel this year was correct. There is a big gap between intercounty football and playing well for your club and unfortunately we have a lot of examples of this standard of fooballer in our county

And down right disrespectful to our footballers in all 0f meath to not look for answers to it.

1. Journalists don't be at Meath training so they wouldn't see anybody pulling up at the training sessions. 2. Andy McEntee said after the game when asked by the media that Graham Reilly had food poisoning. 3. If it was everywhere on Facebook and twitter before Sunday that Graham was injured would you be so kind as to put up a few links to verify this. 4. You are correct that Ben is injured. Hopefully he will be back in the mix for the Kerry game.

RD please post something here where someone says that Biggy would be missing BEFORE the game.
The Irish Examiner reported after the game that Biggy had food poisoning which I presume came from Andy McEntee.

Replying To Furlong1949: "We also beat Armagh comprehensivly by 6 points this year also. An Armagh team many in the gaa were praising throughout the year. Armagh team which had it best season in this decade. We defeated kildare comprehensivly even though it was one point it should have 7 or 8. kildare were red hot favourites to win promotion and reach super 8 at the time. We defeated Fermanagh by 7 points. A Fermanagh team that reached Ulster final last year had a great league and have best organised outside div 1. We comprehensivly defeated Cork by 6 points. Yes Cork have improved but beating Cork by 6 point in Cork seen Cork beat us by 5 points last year is a big turnaround. We played the second or thirs best team in the country 3 times and they struggled three times to beat us. We went to toughest place in the country to play twice and Donegal struggled to beat us twice. We dominated Donegal til 63rd v second best team in the country in the league in Donegal. We were dominate v Donegal in league final in first half and lost by 2 points. kildare a week earlier lost by 11 point to Donegal. And we went toe toe with second or third best team in country in the championship for 55 mins and v one of the teams of the decade , the best team to never win an All Ireland we wwbt toe to toe for 60 mins. Last year we nearly knocked out the All Ireland finalist, lost contervesialy by 1 point after extra time.
The difference since Longford game is huge Last year we won 3 games this year we won 10 games. The most games Meath hace won since 2009 . Since 2001 this year and 2009 are the years we had the most competitive wins. We kept Dublin to their lowest first half championship score since 2011. And we were first leinster team in 11 years to win next qualifier after losing leinster final. And are only team ever to lose leinster final and beat a team from top two divisions in their next qualifier. Kildare beat division 4 Wicklow in 2009 after losing leinster final and Dublin beat division 3 Sligo after losing leinster final in 2001.
If u look at the full picture serious progress has been made this year. Our defence is the best defence in div 2 div 3 div 4 teams. And we have better defence and defenders then some div 1 teams. We need 2 to 3 top class forwards but hopefully the young forward talent coming through can make a difference.
We reached div 1 for first time in 13 years. We reached 8 team div 1 for first time in 22 years. We won 3 games in leinster for first time since 2010 and reached our first leinster final in 5 years and reached quater final for first time in 9 years and only for the 5th time in our history. We have made serious progress this year. And many of our footballers are improving by the game eg Seamus lavin , Conor McGill , Shane Gallagher, Gavin Mcoy, Bryan McMahon." Again you are looking at results that on closer inspection fail to back up your argument, the Armagh,Cork and Donegal teams we played in league were vastly different teams that lined out in Championship. We should have beaten a very understrength Donegal in league but to say they struggled to beat us in league final or super 8s is at best wishful thinking. Your constant waffle about age profile and talent coming through is just the stuff of bar stool talk. Every team in the country could list young lads they hope will make it, you seem to be of the opinion that the rest of the country will stand still while we improve. There is no arguement that our defensive has improved but during league they did not face many of the best forwards due to injury and its outlandish to claim we have a better defence than some Division One teams, given we have conceeded 4-36 in two super 8 games to date. Give any team 2/3 top class forwards and of course they will improve, the problem is finding these lads. The game of football has totally changed over the last few years, history lessons and manipulation of statistics to suit an arguement, will not make Meath a better team.

Replying To pauk123: "In fairness to Nally Andy said the same to LMFM after Sunday. Something to the effect that he doesn't think the collapse was physical.
So, according to the management team, it must be a mentality that causes these collapses. The team can't seem to shift momentum back their way once it's lost. That's been borne out in results the team don't have the belief to push through against D1 teams. The league will be fascinating to see if that can change. Personally, I don't see much value in replacing Andy (if he even wants to continue) but if he can't change that mentality perhaps it is time to look at someone new?" Thought Keogan, Menton and a few more looked totally exhausted with ten minutes to go. Thats when we needed some quality subs to come on to give these lads a boost. maybe thats where the mentality issue comes in.

What's the point in following the county? You can pick holes in any form and say that any side was better in championship than league and that we conceded 4-36 despite the very obvious and well reported facts of how the majority of those goals were conceded.
I don't understand people from inside the county insisting on putting down the team despite our best year in almost a decade? What is the benefit? Yes 2-3 forwards are hard to find but we have lenihan hopefully back for next year which is one.
Is embarrassing when the team get more praise from outside the county then from ourselves

A poster asked on here if anyone else had heard if Flanagan and Reilly were out.
Neither player were on the 26 on Sunday but nowhere have you pointed out where it was widely said on Facebook/Twitter or by journalists in advance of Sunday that Graham was injured.
Like Andy even told the media on Sunday after the game that Graham had food poisoning during the week. Nowhere is he quoted that Graham was injured.
He is quoted in this week's Meath Chronicle that Ben is struggling with an injury.
As for Flanagan, he took a ful part in the warmup on Sunday so it doesn't look like he was injured.

I believe we are being a little naieve with our substitutions. Our defence had been superb this year buf they play a very high tempo energy sapping style of football and when we 're emptying the bench for the last quarter we re generally bringing on attacking players when our defenders our out on their feet. I believe that we need to trust our squad defenders and bring the fresh legs in. In Ryan and Kane we have 2 lads on the line who definitely won't let you down. Theres also Lynch who will do a job for you. If we could balance the fresh legs more evenly around the pitch we wouldn't be collapsing at the end of matches
