So It'S Clare

Replying To Royalio11:  "OK it is the draw we wanted. Clare not to be under estimated but let's call a spade a spade. They have not been near us in recent years.

Pound for pound we are better. No question.

Have Meath the bottle? Sickening hammering to Dublin scoring only 4 points. Have the heads dropped? What is the mood like?

I think 1-9 will remain unchanged. With Newman/O'Sullivan/McMahon/Conlon to be retained up front. Brennan's time is up on this one he cannot score from play or frees. He hasn't provided enough to be retained on merit. I felt sorry for Graham Reilly starting against Dublin. Bring him on with 20 to play that's where he is most dangerous.

The team will be delighted to get this match up with a shot to get into Super 8. If the desire and quality is there then it needs to be a Meath win"
Can't understand why O'Sullivan would be retained and Brennan dropped. Brennan adds as much to General play as O'Sullivan. (Btw not advocating for him to be dropped) just don't understand the logic.

Assume you're looking for a rise - not the time to be asking that question and also a massive assumption that losing what the bookies have as a two point handicap is grounds for removing McEntee. 2/3 of the year's goals have been achieved which surely makes his job safe no matter what.

Replying To LeitrimRoyal99:  "0 excuses. 2017 we beat them 3-19 to 1-13 in the league, 2018 we beat them 0-21 to 0-7, 2019 we bet them 1-12 to 1-7. That's a 12, 14 and 5 with two of them being away. We are a much better team and must beat them"
This series of results only shows the gap to be closing!
This is a new game nothing to do with the previous ones, the more relevant questions are, would Clare have won in Mullingar if John Heslin was on for the full game? Will we be able to counter their midfield? I personally don't think we will, so we will have to swamp between the 45s with bodies. They are susceptible to attacks from deep, Kieran Martin scored 3 points I think from halfback so while we will have to occupy the general midfield area, we will have to be smart with possession and counter very quickly and take SCORES when they are on. Of course we will always have to have at least a man up at all times and this man cannot be James Conlon as we know from the bitter experience that was the Leinster final. This is the way we will have to play next year in division 1 and in the Super 8 if we qualify. Now to answer the first question, I don't think they would have beaten Westmeath if John Heslin was there for the full game so we should qualify if the backs are as solid for the entire game as they were for the first 45 mins v Dublin and we don't miss scorable frees. But fluff reasonable chances and we will pay the ultimate price.

I was at the Westmeath Clare game. Westmeath kicked it away. Heslin is his own worse enemy, but I've seen body checks get away with a tick or yellows, it ruined the game. Westmeath should have still won though. So really I do think we will win.

No doubt a great opportunity and hopefully one we can take, depends on how bad the hangover is.

Yep, I would split the frees between them. depending on distance and where they are. Dose Tobin take frees from the right side.

It's up to him. I hope he does. The cb need to be clear offer him another 3 years with a review after 2. The man has a young family, and really the type of thing that went on with the chronicle was disgusting, and he may say feck this , I don't need this crap.
However he is absolutely dedicated to Meath his passion and enthusiasm for the county is second to none. Will he stay? I don't know , I pray he does. But the cb must do everything possible to ensure he does.

Colgan
Lavin McGill Gallagher
Keoghan Harnan Ryan

Menton Flanagan or Devine

Sullivan McMahon Campion
Tobin Newman Conlon

Biggy James Mc Entee to be impact subs. Hopefully Harnan can start. Anyone know the story with him ? And is Mc Coy is he injured ? I like the fact the game is in Portloaise we have a good record there its not too far away, we played there all ready this year. I hope they have been practicing the old shooting during the week. And focusing better delivery in to the forwards ! Keoghan was tied us with Ciaran Killkenny the last day he should have more freedom the next day and the forwards and score hopefully will reflect that.

Some man to post nonsense.

On other threads you are saying we have no players and our club championship is crap and we should be getting players off Dublin clubs. Now this? Christ. Have a lie down for yourself.

if this was a normal game then we could be more confident of a Meath win, but as others have said it depends on what type of hangover the team have from the Leinster Final defeat.

I think Clare will be looking forward to the game as it is the best draw for them and they will be banking on Meath having an adverse reaction but I think they might come up short.

I am not confident but hopeful that Meath can win and win convincingly.

If we do win and get to the super 8's no doubt there will be a chorus of how easy we had it, beating poor teams to get there but so what. It is about time we have had some luck and if we get there well we wont care.

I just hope if we do get to the group stages that we have something to play for in our last game against Kerry at home. What an ocassion that could be.

Andrew Colgan;

Seamus Lavin, Conor McGill, Shane Gallagher; Donal Keogan, Patric Harnan, Ronan Ryan;

Bryan Menton, Adam Flanagan;

Cillian O'Sullivan, Bryan McMahon, James McEntee;
Dardis or Tobin, Michael Newman, James Conlon.

That's the team I'd go with, Dardis or Tobin to start with the role of being a target man for Conlon to work off.

Tobin cant start just for frees, hate that logic, let newman take all the frees bar any really tricky angles that only left footers can take, for them cillian o'Sullivan needs to step up he has a nice left foot, I've been waiting a while for a great cillian O'Sullivan game and I'm sure its something that is frustrating andy mcentee

I would imagine if things are tight Ruairi O Coileain will play a part at some stage based on his performance last week for the Juniors, but I am pretty sure Davy Nelson will be be hoping he won't be needed.
