Kiltale very impressive last night. Can't see them being touched for title. Kildalkey young team are a long way off from being even competitive and will have a struggle staying in SHC A. Redsalltheway (Meath) - Posts: 112 - 28/06/2019 13:54:27 2202084 Link 0 |

What age group do those clubs go up to now?

Agree Kildalkey are gone back a long way but don't forget this is a completely new team their trying to build, very young team and is going to take a few more years to get back challenging. And as for the comments about playing outside of navan, do you really think Kildalkey would want to play Kiltale on a pitch the size of navan if they actually had a choice??? I agree - very hard to see past Kiltale and a marker laid down Thursday evening. Good win for Trim though and they will be strong favorites now to qualify from the group and tricky opponents for any Group A team in the quarters. oldsam_newsam (Meath) - Posts: 638 - 29/06/2019 10:09:24 2202279 Link 0 |
Very impressed by Longwood. I think they were picked by a few pundits to be the whipping boys. Kildalkey and Killyon losing in the 1st round has thrown the whole Championship open. Kiltale to win the championship, Ratoath to make the final. Trim will push one of them in the Semi-Final. Exciting stuff.

Kiltale were untouchable for 30 minutes in Navan, 18 first half points is an incredible return, they were simply on fire. In Conor Sheerin and Chris Reilly they've added two massive lads which gives them a another advantage which they didn't really have before. Kildalkey didn't know what hit them, but surely won't be that poor again, much better in second half but the game was over as a contest very early on. slane85 (Meath) - Posts: 6 - 30/06/2019 14:40:11 2202893 Link 0 |
One horse race and has been for a number of years. Kiltale picked up a few players from surrounding football areas made the difference. There fitness is miles ahead Jackpot (Meath) - Posts: 199 - 30/06/2019 22:08:03 2203160 Link 0 |
Kiltale and Longwood continue to impress. What has happened to Dunboyne? Have we seen the real Ratoath team yet? Stiofan (Meath) - Posts: 28 - 07/08/2019 07:44:56 2222019 Link 0 |
Dont see Kiltale been beaten, whilst they shouldnt get to far ahead of themnselves Leinster has to be focus already, the draw suggests that they dont meet KK til a final, who that will be god knows, i think they are much better than last year, Ratoath didnt impress last weekend, was a very poor game, sound like trim took BHG for granted and were nearly handed their arse on a plate, Longwood continue to impress but have beaten and drawn with poor teams, ie Killyon and Kildalkey, whoever gets to a semi final with Kiltale will be happy as it gives them a chance to make a final but realistically i dont see anyone keeping it pucked out the 6 in a row chasing Kiltale team, they are streets ahead of the chasing pack with the gap growing, for the sake of hurling in meath we need to see them win a leinster and and who knows if they could win an all ireland, to me they are good enough but for different reasons in recent years they failed against KK teams, its time now to do whatever is required to make sure they 1. win the county and 2 be ultra ready for Leinster comp, think we have seen lesser teams than this current team win AI inter titles. Whilst not Kiltale clubmember but as a meath hurling fan i like to see a Leinster tilte and if possible an AI. StickFan (Meath) - Posts: 192 - 07/08/2019 13:13:14 2222154 Link 0 |
so if Kiltale went and Won Leinster and All ireland outright in Intermediate would The Meath Senior Champs from then on be in the leinster Senior...ive been waiting waiting a while for Kiltale to do something...maybe this is finally the year preddan (Kildare) - Posts: 497 - 07/08/2019 13:48:37 2222163 Link 0 |
doubt it because meath are a 2nd tier inter county team

The standard of the intermediate champs in kk is very high , you only have to look at how they perform when they go up to senior in kk to confirm this. Same can be said for some of the laois and wexford teams they have beaten. hurlit (Meath) - Posts: 312 - 07/08/2019 15:40:51 2222228 Link 0 |
He is correct Stickman, if Kiltale were to win the all ireland then the Meath Champions (probably still Kiltale) would play in the Leinster Senior. Sure Offaly are third tier now and there clubs still play in the Senior, and would fancy there chances of winning it out as well. juicy (Meath) - Posts: 384 - 07/08/2019 15:41:49 2222230 Link 0 |
Call me miserable if you want, but if it's not my club I don't care if a Meath team wins Leinster or not. CastleBravo (Meath) - Posts: 1391 - 07/08/2019 18:11:33 2222310 Link 9 |
Remember that the Offaly senior champions will be in the Leinsetr intermediate this year because of Offaly's relegation. I dont know Offaly club hurling al that well but they could be strong. oldsam_newsam (Meath) - Posts: 638 - 07/08/2019 20:57:58 2222427 Link 0 |
Not true, Offaly's relegation has nothing to do with the club championship. Meath SHC winners play Offaly's senior B winners. Offaly SHC winners still in club Senior Championship. The draws are all on the Leinster GAA website and all the gradings are clearly laid out with the draw in each championship.

In the past Clonkill won the All Ireland IHC and Mount Leinster Rangers did the same. Since then all Westmeath and Carlow SHC winners take part in the Leinster SHC. Westmeath are 2nd tier and unless there is a change to the format Carlow will be 2nd tier also in 2020 so there is no correlation between the county and club levels. I imagine if the Meath senior hurling champions won the All Ireland club Intermediate Hurling Championship this year then in 2020 they could make a strong case to be included in the Senior. No they are not.... They can't be.... The offaly clubs in the senior are usually good and have won leinsters in recent years... Anyway back to my previous point I looked it up.. Clonkill of westmeath won the all Ireland intermediate in 2008 and westmeath have been playing senior club since then likewise with mount leinsters rangers of carlow a few years later and they eventually got to an all Ireland senior final in 2014.... preddan (Kildare) - Posts: 497 - 07/08/2019 23:08:52 2222506 Link 0 |
Getting to Leinster Final should be ok with the draw but Kilkenny always very strong in Intermediate grade and they should meet in final. overthehill72 (Meath) - Posts: 334 - 08/08/2019 09:36:16 2222567 Link 0 |
