Ben absolutely killed us and James conlon is not ready for senior football especially not division one football don't let the laois game fool you, I'm very upset at the bunch of forwards we have on this team, Donal lenihan and ruairi o'caoilean need to be included as soon as possible

Great win by Dublin. Shocking display by Meath. Only 1 team has scored less that in a Leinster Final since 1927 and that was Laois in 1951. Demoralising!

So who would play ahead of Conlon? Granted he wasnt at his best today but give the lad a chance, there's not many forwards better than him in the county at the minute and he is more than capable of becoming our best player in the next 3 years. Agree missed frees killed the chance of any possible momentum we could have gathered today though very disappointing day

This is a tough one to take. I sat in the Lower Hogan and got drenched to watch a Meath team score 4 points in 70 minutes in front of a half empty, relatively disinterested Croke Park. The issues of the game are plain to be seen and I don't need to address them here.

It could have been worse. They missed out on two extra goals in the first half. Meath scrapped, pulled, and dragged and amazingly were only 4 points down at half-time. It was a bizarre game where I don't think there was any winners. The game of football we love surely didnt win anyway.

Meath were petrified of getting hammered. They had the ability to go toe-to-toe and hold the ball at the back but had literally zero penetration going forward. Zero. Zilch. Im unsure what the plan of attack even was.

I dont like having a pop at individuals but Conlon was lost out there today, he's very small, and inexperienced and in hindsight he was thrown into the deep end. Brennan was wasteful. J. McEntee at half-forward didnt work. O'Sullivan didnt get into the game. Reilly defended notably but lads... his day is done. Menton was probably the standout or McGill. The whole full-back line were ok. Id say Newman tried and Tobin too when he came in but it was rudderless, dour stuff. In fairness to the whole Meath team, the Dubs had an off day as well. It was a dreadful game,

No team in Leinster would have done any better. We move on. Forget it. Another game coming thick and fast.

Hard to know what to say. Cant understand how Flanagan wasnt on. We were constantly killed in midfield from our own kick outs. Could've done with him.
Lot of lads got a rude awakening. Afraid to take their man on. This constant sideways and then backwards was very disheartening to see. Never tested them at all.
As always I thought the referee was abysmal. Dubs fouling in middle everytime and referee letting it go. Be great for once to get a fair ref.

The positive for me was that we set up man for man and it looked like we tried to go out and win the game. I dont get the theme on the main forum saying we went out to avoid a hammering as I do not think we we played like that at all.

Negatives obviously has to be our complete breakdown in the forwards, our team selection from the start and our managers interview at the end of the game.

Andy came across very poor and looked like a man who had given up. We need to work hard now on this team and instill some confidence and positivity back into the players. I hope he is up to it but i doubt it given his interview.

I thought the referee was very inconsistent and whilst his performance would not have turned the result around, it would have drained the players and increased frustration among them.

To be fair to Dublin they set up their defense well and completely snuffed out any threat and we seemed to have no answer.

Anyone who expected anything other than an easy Dublin win was only fooling themselves. Couldn't believe that some posters were actually hoping for terrible weather. Our attacking game was killed because of the poor conditions.
Defence was quite strong, especially in the first half but our shooting was absolutely atrocious. Brennan should have been taken off frees early on. Can't blame Conlon for not getting into the game. He was left completely isolated for the whole game. Whatever happens in the qualifier game, we really need to get the likes of McKeever and Lenehan back next year.

Hoping for a kind draw in round 4 but can see us getting someone like Tyrone or Armagh. Going to be tough to get the players to up their game after that.

James conlon isn't strong enough to win his own ball at this level, I've nothing against the lad he clipped over some nice scores against laois, today I would have started Thomas O'eilly who I'm not a big fan of either but hes strong enough to win his own ball, Donal lenihan was huge loss to the panel this year, really disappointed with cillian o'Sullivan today is well felt he had no impact on the game whatsoever

I dont want to over-stress the point myself. I like Conlon as a player and I think against opposition of a certain level he has the potential to be dynamite. Its good to see such a young lad getting his day. But he's 20, 5'7 and 10 stone. He was left inside on his own with some of the best defenders to ever play the game, It begs belief. When he was called ashore by McEntee it was literally like a young lad running across the green to his father at the door of the house for dinner. The mainstay of the fans around me were having a chuckle at this spectacle. Again I respect the man. He's a good player. But he isnt the man for the job vs. Div.1 opposition and I felt the praise after the Laois game was premature.

We were never going to win. I know it's not in mcEntee but if he was serious about making the Super 8's he'd have played a second string team today and rested the first 15 for 2 weeks. Trained the legs off them the last few weeks and next week before resting them for the 4th round qualifier.

Instead the entire team is now demoralised and probably won't recover. I'd ask meath fans in future save their money and stop going to Dublin meath matches. The GAA killed the most famous Derby it had 20 years ago the day it decided it would give Dublin millions extra every year compared to meath. Wake up and smell the coffee. Stop blindly giving the GAA your hard earned cash and vote with your wallet.

Yes he did fail to control it two or three times to be fair but kicking a high ball into a small man? Madness. Dublin did what most club teams in the county do and played a man in front of him for most of the game so hard to give decent ball in. Cillian very quiet all game and as one of our go to players he will probably receive a lot of criticism, but so were all the forwards. A complete failure of our attacking system today but let's not kid ourselves, Dublin are miles ahead and super 8s is still very achievable.

Because he would have been absolutely destroyed on the big croke park pitch by this mobile Dublin outfit. And yes destroyed even more than the lads who played. You clearly have some kind of connection to lad hence the reason for your constant calls for him to play and be our saviour. His got his chance to show what he can do in the laois game and he didn't catch 1 ball which would be the only reason you would have him in the team. Menton and mcentee are not the answer for midfielder but at the moment they are 100% our best options . So enough with unrealistic Flanagan opinions and maybe come up with something realistic

Our forwards today let us down. 12 wides, 5 off uprights & 3 dropped into Cluxton's hands versus 4 wides for Dublin.

Agree Conlon will go on to be a key player for Meath in years to come, but what kind of a game is it to put the smallest/lightest and least experience player in as a target man against the most experienced full back line in the country. As highlighted by many posters our kick out strategy has not worked all year and was a disaster again today, but this issue as yet to be addressed.

Donal Lenihan is not the answer either. He has been so poor for Meath in his last few outings. It's no wonder he wasn't included. We are just so poor it's mind boggling. Sure they had their two sweepers cleaning up very poor ball but why, after going 5 or 6 down did we not take them on upfront and test their resilience? I agree that Conlon is too small and lightweight but why not throw Menton in there for the last twenty mins? He was fairly anonymous at best.

At least 3 of the balls he spilled were not high they were a perfect ball in for him but unfortunately for him hes so light that and kind of dunt from a defender and the ball will pop out. I fear for the lad at this level to be honest just because of his size. Will probably end up just being one of those top class Club forwards. Very similar to Cathal O Dwyer from dunshaughlin who was a similar size and build and player to him. Ripped up the club scene for a number of years but just too small for inter county football.
