The WeareMeath podcast this week were suggesting that Kane might be in contention for the 26 man matchday squad but in the same breath suggested his arm isn't ready for contact. I'd say what they meant is that he's back training and will be looking to force his way into the matchday squad in the coming weeks. They also suggested O'Coileain would be in the mix for the matchday squad but again that could be looking further down the line. Sean Tobin might be the only change to the 20/21 who were regularly getting game time in the latter stages of the league. Great to see healthy competition at all levels of the squad. gwanyagudthing (Meath) - Posts: 88 - 10/05/2019 13:25:16 2182931 Link 1 |
Had a great season so far, the League was Meath's best performances in years upon years. There's still many questions around the team; depth, consistency, midfield, and particularly their mental strength. When the pressure is on, they may be vulnerable against a good team. Id be confident but nervous. The Leinster SFC will be tough this year, Meath are beatable when they dont perform. Young_gael (Meath) - Posts: 391 - 10/05/2019 13:35:28 2182933 Link 12 |
Honestly I don't listen to what ose says anymore, very anti Meath bias or either that he hasn't got a clue about the Meath team. He predicted us to get relegated at beginning of season, even mid way through he was saying we wouldn't be promoted, v donegal he said they'd win handily by 7/8 points. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 17035 - 10/05/2019 14:26:42 2182941 Link 0 |
Only on here could a poster be talking about been confident of beating kerry at home in the super 8s before a ball is kicked in leinster , the players must get some laugh reading stuff on here. hurlit (Meath) - Posts: 312 - 10/05/2019 15:03:37 2182950 Link 4 |
I really don't want to seem arrogant or anything but I fail to see anything other than a Meath win, I actually think they will lay down a marker, shall we progress, the way this year has panned out every game is a step up, I think Carlow are marginally better than Offaly, I think Westmeath or Laois are better than Carlow and all going well we then have probably the greatest team of all time to test ourselves against. I'm really looking forward to Sunday and I know a win is a win, but damn it we have done that too many times, I want us to blitz them. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 17035 - 10/05/2019 15:07:09 2182951 Link 0 |
If Oshea made any sense RTE wouldn't have him on the air. he pucks stuff out if the air a "reliable source" said" Meath supporters where booing the player via Sligo"...

As usual you are way off the mark, see 99% of Meath hurling people are Meath GAA people and dearly want any team wearing the green and gold of Meath to succeed. We are not begrudges like you and the famous doctor, believe it or not we cheered the good doctor to the rafters when he wore the green and gold!!! So come early on Sunday and cheer on the other team wearing green and gold, you know get that winning feeling. MillerX (Meath) - Posts: 742 - 10/05/2019 16:49:43 2182976 Link 5 |

Yeah sometimes he comes across as having a chip on his shoulder about Meath, however I'm beginning to think it's more to do with incompetence than anything else.

A lot do. Martin McHugh especially springs to mind!! Never heard a good word, but I couldn't care less. Role on Sunday and lets take one match at a time, in order to get the county back to the top. David (Meath) - Posts: 566 - 10/05/2019 22:06:24 2183023 Link 1 |

Many, if not all, of the RTÈ pundits have a negative reaction to all things Meath. I believe that they want Meath to fail. I believe the majority of the country wants us to fail. Meath in the 1980s and 90s were a lot like Tyrone today. They were tough, competitive, and cynical. And both had a wise older man in charge with alternate agendas who was easy to dislike for the neutrals. There was "antics". Meath are hated in every corner in Ireland and that resentment is clear in O'Sé whose precious Kerry suffered a near 20 point hammering in 2001. One of their worst ever losses. You'll see that bitter streak in most of the pundits. If the modern Meath team loses a tight game or come out on the wrong side of a bad referee, you'll hear the famous "they're no angels themselves" or "no better team than Meath" usually with a snicker and an eye roll. We're on our own and we perform best on our own outside the rest of the pack. The whole growing atmosphere isnt necessarily a bad thing. Pretty much what everybody was expecting except McCoy starting ahead of Ryan. Bit of a shock because I think Ryan played every game in the league and was very good also. Barney123 (Meath) - Posts: 676 - 11/05/2019 10:00:29 2183064 Link 10 |
