Ye havnt looked this forward to the start of the leinster championship for a few years, let's hope meath build on our successful league campaign, we must not take offaly for granted as we've been caught out before by them 1997 and 2000 spring to mind. Glad the game is in navan as where hard bet there and nothing beats championship football on our home pitch hon the royals.

Have to say I'm looking forward to it too with Dublin on the other side of the draw.

hope the new faces in the team will bring a new dimension to the team, was very impressed with Darragh Campion from the Skyrne club and also Ronan Ryan or as they call him Twinny was the find of the league as his tensicaous tackling and hunger to always get a challenge in.

The loss to Longford was only a year ago let's not forget. Our team hasn't changed all that much from the one that started that day. We've really targeted the league this year and Cian Ward reckon lads we've been at championship level fitness since January, so potentially we won't have that advantage now in May. Offaly didn't have a great league but from speaking to their supporters they've upped their intensity in training and in challenge games since so I wouldn't want to base anything on league form.

I know having Colm Nally has made a big difference this year too but I won't be getting carried away with what we've done so far this year. Potentially we could have a good run in Leinster and have a real cut at the Dubs but it's no way guaranteed.

I think the team has changed since Longford last year positional as well. Also individual performances have improved COS, Bryan Mc Mahon, Thomas O'Reilly, Ben Brenann to mention some. are all playing at a way better standard than last year. I think I would rather go by league performance and challenge matches to be honest. Offaly had a poor league. Just missing the drop to div 4 on points difference.
But I take your point on fitness levels it remains to be seen on that front personally. I will very disappointed if we dont beat Offaly even taking this in to consideration, also we have a decent panel now dont forget some of these lads should be fresh enough hopefully .

As neighboring counties would there be much rivalry between Meath and Offaly?

It would take the mother of all capitulations to lose this, at home against a div 3/4 team, after the league we have had. This fitness wasn't gained from october/november/December pre league, it's 3 years building up to this....players don't just lose it in the space of a month.....the same way offaly can't just up their intensity for a month and catch it up. At least a 10 point margin I expect.

Oh it's rough. I'll tell you a good one, the year of the Seamus Darby goal, there was a lot of Meath flags up for a time of year when we had long finished.

Oh Ollie. Let me tell you it's quite intense around my old home place. They'd skin you alive, one parish divided between two counties. 'Twas rough in the 80s. Plenty of neighbors not talking to one another during championship .

I was there in 92 when Laois bet us at home, when Dublin hammered us in 95, I was there when Offaly beat us in 97 and 2000 and Kildare in 98. I was there when Wexford and Limerick beat us in 2008. I was there when Kildare trounced us in 2017 and when Dublin did it in 2015.

So forgive me if I'm a little more cautious about it. Hopeful but not getting carried away.

Heard Meath Seniors got bad beating by Kerry down in Cork. Big reality check from all accounts. So might be good thing for us , keep our feet on ground .

Too many borders in this country Royaldunne. Meath has a small border with Monaghan as well. Any rivalry with Meath and Monaghan?

Exactly, we are in no position to be getting carried away, proceed we caution. The draw has been kind to us but this is a double edged sword as expectations have been raised.
One game at at a time and hopefully we can make a Leinster final.

We were all there. Grow up. It's a game we have to go out and win and I believe we will do that and move on to the next game. This what if talk and negative talk is boreing as he'll. Don't go if your so afraid we are going to lose
