Are they better than what's on team? , that's all that matters. Btw Dan Quinn has been on juniors last couple of years and is now on senior so can't agree that they not been looked at as the juniors under mcentee have for most part been tried during obc

Woolly Parkinson doesn't seem to think we're up to much on his podcast but I think we're better than what he thinks but at the same time I don't mind him saying it as it keeps us below the radar perhaps. Cork have a few dangerous players in their team including Kerrigan who can cause us problems. I don't care how bad they' been so far I won't be relaxed till the final whistled gone and we've won. A win on Saturday is going to set us up nicely for a real shot at promotion. I hope the lads have looked after themselves since the Armagh game. Any word on James McEntee after the UCC game, heard he got injured. LoyalRoyal (None) - Posts: 414 - 21/02/2019 22:20:04 2166858 Link 0 |
Apparently not going to feature unfortunately, but nothing confirmed, huge loss if true. But players , big players are going to get injured, we just have to keep going and whoever comes in to give it their all

Parkinson ! That's great news. That's after cheering me up. Last I heard of him he wrote of Donegal 2013. And they hit the butt of the post to nearly win a All Ireland 2014. Not why mark lynch is on the bench is he not one of there better players. They seem holding players on the bench. From the named team. bobkarlgees (Meath) - Posts: 1192 - 22/02/2019 08:57:40 2166888 Link 0 |
To the best of my knowledge, he hasn't played at any level for Meath. Don't be surprised if you see an M. Flood listed to play for Cork in a couple of years. Nemo people have been asking about him and couldn't believe he had no involvement with a county team.

If James Mc is out do we go like for like and bring in Lynch or McCoy. Or do we maybe go for Ethan Devine midfield and drop a midfielder back to wing back. Personally I would put Menton wing back as I think that is his natural position and he could at least somewhat replicate James Mc's running power going forward. If Harnan is back and Andy reckons he can play I'd put him in and leave midfield the way it was. Interesting decision though LeitrimRoyal99 (Meath) - Posts: 833 - 22/02/2019 09:37:31 2166896 Link 11 |
Very interesting, team announced in morning I presume??

Michael Flood was corner back on Meath u21s in 2016, and corner back on Meath juniors who got to the all ireland final in 2017. He also played a couple of senior challenge games under Mick O Dowd. He's had plenty of inter county chances.

Hard to see Harnan being parachuted into a starting spot seeing as he hasn't featured on the panel yet this year and didn't play last year. Not saying he isn't good enough but it will take time to re-integrate him. Lynch is the most likely replacement but still hoping McEntee will be fit to play some part. gwanyagudthing (Meath) - Posts: 88 - 22/02/2019 12:11:36 2166933 Link 0 |
Not sure why team selections take so long to be published for each match nowadays. Not sure why the football panel on the main site is not up to date for 2019. Some current players are not even included. Cutbacks??? I assume PRO function still exists to oversee such matters.?

Your answering the question one game v Longford I think then good luck it works two ways. If you don't put them out in the public nobody can gauge how good or bad they are.and the other side is if you keep a lad that's injured !! Out shar he was injured he did nothing wrong so we play him cause he played there before.im not sure who was looked at but I go to a lot of games rd and lot of other men I know go to them to. Not to many involved with meath teAm management have been seen down the lower divisions.

Cork v Meath, Pairc Ui Rinn, 7pm Royalblufill (Meath) - Posts: 284 - 22/02/2019 13:44:50 2166948 Link 0 |
The panel train on Fridays, the team gets announced then and released to the public the following morning. From a supporters point of view it would be nice to know the team a bit earlier but it's not the be all and end all. Some other counties don't release the team at all before a game. As for the website, don't know what the story is there. jackhackett (Meath) - Posts: 765 - 22/02/2019 14:15:15 2166954 Link 0 |
Even then - many teams name their starting 15 but start with a different line up! The Dubs do this all the time! You are right it is not the be all and end all

No and Meath generally announce the 26 person panel for the football at least. The hurlers seem to put out the starting fifteen. jackhackett (Meath) - Posts: 765 - 22/02/2019 16:11:19 2166978 Link 1 |
Meath (Allianz FL v Cork): Andrew Colgan; Seamus Lavin, Conor McGill, Ronan Ryan; Adam Flanagan, Donal Keogan, Niall Kane; Bryan Menton, Shane McEntee; Ethan Devine, Ben Brennan, Darragh Campion; Bryan McMahon, Michael Newman, Thomas O'Reilly. bobkarlgees (Meath) - Posts: 1192 - 23/02/2019 08:17:21 2167069 Link 0 |
One change Adam Flanagan in for injured James McEntee. Probably swop with Shane McEntee. Cant imagine Flanagan would start wing back. David (Meath) - Posts: 566 - 23/02/2019 08:41:14 2167070 Link 0 |
