Looking forward to this one to see if we have improved at all from last year. it is important to get off to a good start in the league. Tipp gave us a good hiding last year In Thurles so we have to take teams like this a little more seriously. SheridansTry (Meath) - Posts: 168 - 17/01/2019 19:14:36 2157860 Link 0 |
He's an inside forward where we are short I guess. Someone made a decent point that he may not be as he doesn't score enough but he's still young and we badly need someone to grow in to that role to replace Leno this year and partner Newman. Whether that's him or Conlon or McMahon who knows but it is entirely seprrate to Brenann regardless. To my knowledge Biggie has never played there btw and I don't think it's something you pick up at that age at this level so I'd guess he'll be named there and play around the half forward line. Our midfield will need all the help it can get too so we will almost certainly play with two inside. dunboynelad (Meath) - Posts: 198 - 17/01/2019 19:49:24 2157875 Link 0 |
The lad is what, 20 maybe? His potential growth is greater than Brennans. He looked very good against Wexford, 4 points from play. Was starved of ball against Dublin before he was moved out.

I agree with you in the manner we got rid of all those lads.dropped week of allireland had no chance to redeem themselves.looking at the best few firwards in meath senior championship lot those in the early 30s. Hanlon from Kells great forward.never got run. I'm not knocking that lad just stating his age if it's that what were doin lets get all on board.

Would agree with you re Hanlon one of top inside forwards in Club championship with the ability to take on defences . As for the Goalkeeping from what I have seen the Best Keeper in Meath is Na Fianna'a Geraghty by a long way . Not sure if he ever was tried out . Just wondering is Daire Rowe of Syddan in contenton this year as is another fine player .

Again I'm not saying anything against the lad, but someone who is only on the panel a year (Brennan) motm v Tyrone last year. (Independent views not just mine) been said he brings nothing and to drop him , I don't buy into it, when you look at some that we have persevered with over time, think he needs at least this year to prove himself.

To add to Cian ward Brian Farrell peadar Byrne juicy O'Connor. We dropped too many with what was coming through. In hindsight it set us back years.

No one is saying he brings nothing, just arguing against your point he is a certain starter.

€20 in to league games is a bit steep thought €15 was fair. This will push the price of championship games up too no doubt Belt (Meath) - Posts: 205 - 18/01/2019 16:29:22 2158047 Link 0 |
Completely agree, Ben Brennan is a far better player. Who is younger shouldn't come into it especially when Ben Brennan is only 27. He has offered far more when playing in a Meath jersey and is agressive and will put his body on the line.

I think thomas o Reilly to me is a excellent prospect for Meath I was at a few games this I taught T OR was excellent. I hope him to cement a place this and regular starts will give him confidence. He was been better than Brennan imo. Not against Ben I love work ethic but T'OR for me.

Good analysis, would love him to be given a go with Meath. I'm not sure Newman should be in FF, I think his athleticism makes him better out the field in half forwards. David Larkin is a brilliant footballer, hard as nails and very talented, the one player I'd pay in to watch on the club scene- don't care what age he is he should be on the Meath panel. I think in him and McCarthy you would be getting two strong characters as well and that's what intercounty football is all about, you need real men to take responsibility and drive the thing forward. Thats why I've always been annoyed with one particular club having 6+ players on Meath panel despite fact the club wasn't even coming close to winning anything, both Larkin and McCarthy drove their teams into the county final, we need these types on the county team. Prices up equals attendances down, and this rings true more so for Meath at the minute as the type of football being delivered is not the most entertaining

Season tickets are the way to go, particularly if you travel to majority of games. Personally don't think it's over expensive for what you get. Also it's been awhile since prices went up.

20 is good value imo. I mean what the hell will 20 quid get you? Nothing. A good day out. As I said the season tickets are great value if you travel to all the games like we do. And then ticket prices don't matter.

Watching 14 men behind the ball playing defensive and with fear of making an error is not my idea of a good day out. There are an awful lot of people to whom €20 to watch that type of stuff is a non runner. It is not the Meath co boards call though. Take for example the option of € 20 to watch Dublin V Kerry or €20 to Watch Meath V Fermanagh...... hardly the same product. I do expect a good crowd in Navan next Sunday but they will want to see positive football which would in turn get the crowd behind the team. The last few years has been like a morgue in terms of atmosphere in navan.

Not a post about Meath v Tipperary but more so the recent price increase for league games. Royalio11 (Meath) - Posts: 750 - 19/01/2019 23:51:01 2158331 Link 0 |
