Yes, well deserved especially with his performances for Longwood in the latter stages of the year. And well done to Alan Douglas on the hurler of the year award. oldsam_newsam (Meath) - Posts: 638 - 03/12/2018 20:05:21 2153225 Link 3 |
Yes well done to Alan. Don't see any hurling but nonetheless a great achievement, also to the two young players. Well done all around

Well done Mickey, well deserved award, the mans commitment has been outstanding for years and he had given some of his best performances in recent years. Richieq (Meath) - Posts: 3590 - 03/12/2018 21:33:45 2153239 Link 15 |
A shocking indictment of the standard meath football has fallen too , And he gets it playing most if his club football in the forwards which is even more embarrassing for the county

If you were at any of the Longwood matches this year you would not be making the comment the Burkie played in the Forwards for Longwood. Burkie wore 14 but he operated around the central third of the field in all matches. Covering back , carrying the ball forward and holding the center when required to do so. At know time in any game was Burie deployed ad a forward. You comments are ate the embarrassment here not the fact that a Great Meath Gaa man got the footballer of the year award. Congratulations Michael Burke your a great Longwood man and a great Meath man. gardentree (Meath) - Posts: 194 - 04/12/2018 16:08:24 2153317 Link 2 |
Whilst Southgaels words are strong there is some element of truth. Whilst mickey would be well deserving of club player of the year but can people honestly say he is the best footballer in meath. On a separate note how is this award decided. Foley91 (Meath) - Posts: 339 - 04/12/2018 18:32:15 2153328 Link 2 |
Disgraceful comment.

Why is disgraceful? Because you don't agree with it

It's a sad indictment of where we are going as a county when certain people see fit to shit all over a mans achievement and where not just his general play but dedication, commitment and leadership have been rewarded, a few people here need to seriously go into a dark room and have a word with themselves...... Who would be southgaels footballer of the year be just as a matter of interest? Barney123 (Meath) - Posts: 676 - 04/12/2018 20:51:32 2153339 Link 13 |

'Player of the year' and 'Best player' are two completely different things

All the drama queen responses to a harsh but true opinion on an opinion forum, is a shocking indictment of the snowflake generation we live in today.......my opinion is Micky Burke isn't good enough to be footballer of the year in Meath ever unless meath are in dire straits, and I stand by that. southmeathgael (Meath) - Posts: 709 - 05/12/2018 00:02:48 2153355 Link 14 |
I think Mickey has been a great servant to club and county and deserves every accolade going when it comes to club level but ''Footballer of the Year''? For as long as I have seen him playing for the county, even in the recent dyer years, he has never been our best footballer. Most committed-Yes, hardest working-Yes, reliable-Yes and team player-Yes but it is an insult to Donal Lenihan. By far, the best footballer with the county this year and had an outstanding club year! bowza123 (Meath) - Posts: 42 - 05/12/2018 11:00:34 2153368 Link 2 |
Seems to be very pro and anti people on here. So my twopence worth. If not Mickey Burke this year then who? Personally I am surprised he didn't get this award previously. Also the heartbeat of Longwood this year. MillerX (Meath) - Posts: 742 - 05/12/2018 11:47:38 2153373 Link 1 |
I wonder how long will take for mickey to be a coach on Ireland's fittest family. Seems to be going down the Anna geary road. Foley91 (Meath) - Posts: 339 - 05/12/2018 12:40:39 2153378 Link 0 |
I'm far from being a drama queen but I have a certain traits called respect and decency, look them up you could learn from them

Well said shameful stuff on the man. He's given real sacrifice to meath over the years never heard a bad word from any new lad that brought into panel. He always made them feel wanted not like a few other clients that were there.

Do ya yea? Your talking horsedung now snowflake. Just cause I think he's a bang average footballer, not footballer of the year material, and it shows how our standards as a county have dropped, I'm disrespectful and showing a lack of decency??? Your like a femenist, you can have an opinion as long as it's the same as mine. Sure there does be lads on here saying an awful lot worse about paddy Orourke and the likes. I don't rate burke, u clearly do. Surely that's the end of it??
