This is a very good cause and hopefully there is a good turnout of supporters on the day, as it is at times like this that the value of the GAA community is at its most important. I wish Sean and all his family all the best and hope for a very good recovery.

Know it was only a challenge match today but I was impressed by Meath. Positives for me was our ability to tackle and recover the ball from the opposition and we seem to be closing the space between defence and attack. Mentally the lads seem sharp with a bit more hunger. Thought Niall Kane was very good. Fantastic to have Newman back-been saying it for a long time but we need to have a dead ball merchants capable of keeping the scoreboard ticking.

Dublin got a goal at a crucial time in the game and we could have collapsed but didn't - great to see a bit of grit towards the end to close the game out.

I don't think we can take anything away from that game, last night we seemed very like last year, too defensive, not good enough at tackling and sloppy up the front. But you are right its good to see Newman in a Meath jersey and Kane was good, always looking to get forward which is what we needed. Be good to see a half back line of James McEntee, Keogan and Kane.

We will see where we are at after we play Tipperary in the first round.

Majority of last nights team won't be seen in many competitive games this year. Majority of today's will be. That I think speaks for itself.

Ahh I think attitude can be taken from it. From very early on you could see that the players actually really wanted to win it. While I agree it is a nothing game. If that attitude can be brought to the league then it will be a good thing.

I'm not getting over excited or anything but from what I saw online I was impressed with the work rate and tackling of Meath players as well as pushing up on the Dublin kickout all of which led to some good turnovers, your always looking for positives heading into the new year and I saw a few today, the heart shown at the end was positive also and the crowd responded to that which was good to see. Today was all about the Cox family and rightly so but from a footballing point of view I'll take that game as a good way to end the year.

can we Santa Claus from the half time show to play in goal for us next year

I'll look on it as any other challenge game. Important thing is the cause and money raised at the end of the day.

Good to win but won't be talked about in weeks to come. Definitely nice to get one over the Dubs and while not their strongest side those players would have wanted to impress Jim Gavin so it's not to be dismissed at the same time.

I heard Menton, Ryan and Campion went off injured. Any word on them?

Ahh Santa was a great shot stopper. I wonder will he transfer from the North Pole though. Perhaps we can do a seanie Johnson on it and have Andy invite him for a cup of tea. lol.
