As far as I can see, the Dunboyne management is from Dunshaughlin, Dunderry and St.Pergrines. Hardly local Dunboyne men.

In the interview with the Chronicle before the Senior Football final I'm almost certain it said their manager was a member of the Dunshaughlin 3 in a row team. Sean Kelly is Dunboyne's coach and I'd say he'd be surprised as any of us to learn he's actually from Dunboyne.... CastleBravo (Meath) - Posts: 1391 - 06/11/2018 15:14:53 2149895 Link 13 |
All of Dunboyne's management team, except Sean Kelly, are now Dunboyne club men. Ciaran Byrne was a Dunshaughlin player but has been living in Dunboyne for a long time and was a underage coach in the club. His son has played for Dunboyne all the way through to the Senior team. John Lowndes lives in Dunboyne and is a Dunboyne club man. I would have no problem with clubs bringing coaches on board from outside the club as part of the management team, however I feel the manager has to be from that club. Plenty of clubs have taken this approach. BigJoe14 (Meath) - Posts: 565 - 06/11/2018 15:41:22 2149904 Link 0 |
Ciaron Byrne was a member of the Dunshaughlin 3 in a row but lives in dunboyne a long time has been involved in the club for years and his kids are in the club. Ger Robinson is dunbonye John Lowndes is also dunboyne. Born and raised in dunboyne went to school here played for the club as did his brother and his father and uncle and got involved in pereguines when he moved up that way .yes Sean Kelly is Dunderry so ur right on that one

You could be right I don't know . What I do know is that he played for Dunshaughlin but has been living in dunboyne for years and has been involved in the club at underage level for years so I certainly wouldn't class him as an outside manager.

Sean Kelly actually played for Dunboyne up to u12 before he moved to Dunderry. Played on the same team as John Lowndes believe it or not Meathgaa5 (Meath) - Posts: 333 - 06/11/2018 21:11:23 2149970 Link 0 |

Des Lane going to take over his hometown club Simonstown? Meathmaster (Meath) - Posts: 251 - 07/11/2018 09:58:18 2150018 Link 0 |
Anyone know why Ciaran Kenny stepped down from Simonstown. Was involved for a long time as coach surprising that he only did one year as manager? BigJoe14 (Meath) - Posts: 565 - 07/11/2018 11:41:10 2150034 Link 0 |
Sean Kelly was never in Dunboyne. Comes from Meadstown Dunderry. As was every generation before him.

From what I've heard Ciaran Kenny took the job on short notice last year after being involved the last 4 years. Young family and shift work in the mines means he needs a break.

That was my suspicion alright. I do remember now that Colm O'Rourke stood down fairly late on in the year.

Tough act to follow for kenny and especially when you lose vital members of ur team in Shane o Rourke Connor Nash and to a lesser extent Seamus Kenny who was always good to bring on there for 20/30 minutes. Take 3 influential players like that out of any team and their gonna find difficult but from what I hear about Ciaran Kenny he's very very good so hopefully we see him back coaching or managing somewhere. Meath needs all these promising young managers and coaches to progress . The more we have in the county the better .
