If its the Keegan he is talking about then "contenders" is being taken quite literally as in they will take part, barring new players coming in i don't think either will be in the mix come october

Ah Christ spare us . Neither will be contenders. Ashbourne resorted to mas defence in the championship so that shows you where they are at. Ratoath are somewhat more of a hope as the reason they are so bad is because they are shocking badly coached. Ash have no forwards.

Suspect Ratoath will be contenders for new management too! Banaghan seems to have done a reasonable job with Ashbourne and I would say they would like to hang on to him if they could!

Some good jobs there,

Cant see ratoath or ashbourne looking for a new manager.

big names required anyhow.

Alot of clubs go with the external manager instead of getting someone internal

For 2019 all clubs should appoint "in house" managers, that is club members. They would save a fortune and would it make much difference. I don't think it would. And maybe it might even up the playing field, excuse the pun!!

I think the day of appointing outside managers should be brought to an end. A outside manager coming in is only interested in two things, and that is furthering there own career and making a few quid. All clubs should be preparing managers to step up from there underage through to the adult teams and have a succession plan in place. Expertise like S&C and maybe a outside skills coach can be looked at from outside the club but in my opinion all clubs should strive to appoint from within. Dunboyne have had this policy for a long time.

It'd be farcically easy for an outside manager to just pay for membership of the club and become an "inside" manager.
