I'd not care what we do in this. We won it last year and in MOD's final year and it was the start of absolutely nothing.

I've said it every year religiously for 6-7 years now, get a settled team in this and for the national league, no chopping and changing and players in one match and not on the panel the next. Get a panel of 35 lads that are all putting in the effort and know their importance even when they're not getting games.

It's Andy's last year and unfortunately unless he achieves one of a super 8's or promotion then its time to move on again.

That's good news . All of them would add something to the panel IMO

Now that is someone I'd love to see back, not only on panel. But in team.
Hopefully the year off has helped Newman, I actually think it was best for him to do that. Didn't know harnan had a broken leg, how long ago bob did it happen??

I heard he broke it playing in USA during the summer, hopefully he's on the mend.seen him on crutches a month ago.Great news if Newman is back. Also in my opinion we simply have to get Harry Rooney back with meath

Hard luck on harnan, can't believe I hadn't heard about it. Hopefully as u said he in the mend. Yeah if Newman can recapture the form of old he will be massive. As for harry Rooney I may be wrong but I heard he might be heading stateside , hopefully he will stay around.

One lad says someone broke their leg, another poster says he is at training and hopes to be back in action in a couple of weeks. The joys of the hoganstand forum.

total rubbish - do lads just make up stories about players just to post something or what?
the amount of factual news posted on this forum is at a all time low

From today's Indo, conforming what most knew anyway.....

The League of Ireland's most prominent goalkeeper Gary Rogers has joined the Meath senior football backroom team for the coming year.

Rogers, a native of Meath, will take over the role of goalkeeping coach from Cormac Sullivan who has stepped away.

Rogers, who has featured on Irish international soccer squads in recent years, has an extensive coaching background with GAA teams and has featured on Meath junior teams in the past.

His arrival is one of a series of changes that sees former All-Ireland-winning midfielder Gerry McEntee also leave after two years with Louth-based coach Colm Nally coming in the opposite direction to link up with McEntee's brother Andy who is preparing for a third year at the helm.

Finian Murtagh, Donal Curtis and Gerry Cooney will remain on as selectors.

Nally was involved as a coach with Colin Kelly in Louth as they were promoted to Division 2 in 2017, having previously delivered Leinster intermediate glory for Meath club St Colmcille's the previous year.

He was managing Dublin club Castleknock this year before being brought on board with Meath.

Sign of the times. GAA does not operate in a vacumn. Nowadays young lads travel the world. Take career breaks , And have considerable other interests. Onetime lads were just around and available for teams. Then it became the thing to mouth out nonsense about commitment, Now we are looking at getting larger numbers involved and teams rotating players to keep it going, Or else fail to field teams.
