Cracking game between Drumree and CNG.

Was in Navan yesterday, surprised at how poor Kiltale's seconds were against Don/Ash.
Colm O Mealod is some hurler.

Kells got a great win, turned it around from last year when they got beat by 13 points. Maybe Ashbourne did well and didn't let kiltale have it there own way.

Group A's a serious dogfight this year.

Watched the double header in Trim, Kells hurling well - O'Mahony's certain to go back down I'd say.

Don't know what's going wrong with Rathmolyon, they were split open time and time again by Kilskyre/Moylogh. Huge game against Tones next.

Drumee and Ashbourne play each other next in the other one which should be tasty - Ash hammered Kilmessan yesetrday.

Rathmolyon have lost a lot of very good hurlers in the last few years, all the Coles have retired or transferred and Jack Fagan is a serious loss as well as two other brothers I think.

Kilskyre/Moylagh are an excellent side and could very easily be in the mix at the end. I feel they or Na Fianna will top the group.

Big round of games.

Group A:

Wolfe Tones vs Gaeil Colmcille - Tones have looked handy enough this year in Championship, and will get a quarter final at least with a win - Tones by two

Na Fianna vs Kilskyre/Moylagh - Both unbeaten, Kilskyre/Moylagh haven't played since the Rathmolyon game though due to O'Mahony's walkover (which they've given Rathmolyon this time around to keep them up!) - Na Fianna by the minimum.

Group B:

Clann na Gael vs Donaghmore/Ashbourne: - this is ridiculously hard to call. Ashbourne should've lost to Drumree, but CnG only barely snuck by them. Hearing O'Mealoid is missing for Don/Ash and that just tips it towards CNG for me - CNG by three

Drumree vs Kilmessan - Should be a comfortable Drumree win but Kilmessan could still sneak into the quarters. Drumree by 7

Kildalkey vs Kiltale - Kildalkey by 9

This is Na Fianna's championship to lose. Athboy should get to final.

Athboy Kells and Na Fianna would hold their own in Senior B Group without ever qualifying.

Na Fianna have a young side but their minor and u21s who were winning underage championships over the past 5-6 years are finding the step up to Adult more difficult. I still expect Na Fianna to consistently be a senior B team for the next 8-10 years if they can finally get out of intermediate.

Na Fianna look like the Mayo of meath intermediate hurling, they have had the best team by far in the last four years but cant win the championship.
On your other point, Athboy,Kells would not be strong enough to beat Boardsmill,O'Mahonys or Blackhall. Step up to big.
Disappointing to see Dunderry go back down to Intermediate they don't seem to be taking hurling seriously at adult level in the club. No Junior team for past three or four years, gave walk over in championship last year looks like very little preparation for players for senior hurling championship. What that saying fail to prepare prepare to fail.

Agreed, Athboy and Kells would do well to win one game in that Senior B, they would be big favourites for the drop if either were there. Athboy were only relegated last year so your point is fatally flawed.

Na Fianna would be around the same level as Boardsmill, Navan and Blackhall, doesn't seem to be much between those 3.

Tones to win this out now with no football to distract them.

A couple of weeks of solid hurling training will make a huge difference ahead of the semi-finals

Last 4 years? Really? Last year perhaps but not a chance were they the best team before that.
I'd expect them to win it out this year.

They were the best team in the championship in the last four years but they can not win the championship. They were better that Ratoath the year ye won it , their seems to be a mental block when it comes to the knock out stages.
l
Tones the team to beat now, Donal Keogan an outstanding hurler, if he gets 3/4 more weeks of solid hurling training he will get even better. I would love to see Tones win it they have kept hurling alive in the area for so long now. a Super club.

They were not better than us. We had around 20 wides when we bet them by 2 in the semi final. Should have won by double figures like we did in the final (compare Na Fianna's result against the same opposition last season).
They haven't been good enough in the last few years, it hasn't had anything to do with a mental block.
