What was wrong wit athboy agreeing to play game last nit or early next week. Everyone looking at junior championship knows what goin on JohnboyWalton (Meath) - Posts: 19 - 31/08/2018 20:44:46 2138029 Link 0 |
Athboy only played on Wednesday against kiltale, they were open to playing early next week against killyon, but they were told there was no moving on game. Mac79 (Meath) - Posts: 4 - 31/08/2018 21:33:34 2138043 Link 0 |
If it's the last round, don't all games have to be played at the same time? If so then Clann na nGael could hardly expect to get a deferral anyway. That's if the excuse offered by the poster before is genuine. CastleBravo (Meath) - Posts: 1391 - 31/08/2018 22:01:20 2138050 Link 12 |
Still one more round after this weekend, Athboy have a bye and killyon have dunboyne in last round.

I was told at the Dunderry match in Dunshaughlin last night that the Kildalkey V Trim SHC Semi Final is to be played in Athboy !!!!!! gardentree (Meath) - Posts: 194 - 02/09/2018 09:35:55 2138308 Link 0 |
We need a good chairperson for this thread folks, keep to the point lads and lassies, this thread is titled, "Senior Hurling Championship" and not about teams trying to limp into the Junior B hurling championship. MillerX (Meath) - Posts: 742 - 02/09/2018 18:57:48 2138470 Link 0 |
I would hope that you heard wrong. I cant see a game of that importance being played in Athboy. It Just does not have the facilities for the supporters and the dressing rooms are a nightmare and totally inadequate for the players. That's just the fact's of it. Unfortunately this game has to be in navan as both Trim and Kildalky would be the best pitch's in the area so navan Is the only suitable neutral ground. I would guess it will be another double header in navan. Would like to see both games in Trim though. Irish_downunder (Meath) - Posts: 476 - 03/09/2018 09:56:22 2138637 Link 0 |
Trim would be the best venue for the semi finals. Forget the neutrality issue. Why? Trim I believe rarely train on the main pitch as there are no lights on it. Kildalkey know Trim well enough and it is also very convenient to Kiltale and probably as close to Ratoath as Navan. This is in effect a "bring hurling home" call. Trim were very good against Killyon and they will only get better with Toher, Cullen and Heffernan returning to full fitness. Killyon's year fell apart after a great start. Kildalkey will be slight favourites but Trim have every chance with the players they have back. overthehill72 (Meath) - Posts: 334 - 03/09/2018 11:41:27 2138727 Link 0 |
Trim all day long. With Tougher back, I mean back playing not back injured... they will be to strong fror the rest. When Tougher puts his mind to it he is the single most impressive GAA man in the county. Trim for the championship 2018 In_da_ditch (UK) - Posts: 165 - 04/09/2018 08:02:53 2139035 Link 0 |
Trim looked impressive having returning players back on field. They're a match for anyone. Kiltale pace is always a threat and Longeood just had no answers to them. Also Ratoath and Kikdalkey played a great league final, Ratoath showed they can go toe to toe with big guns now. Redsalltheway (Meath) - Posts: 112 - 04/09/2018 14:20:51 2139146 Link 0 |
i must have been watching a different trim team to the one you guys saw ! easily worst of the 4 teams left it was a very poor game hurlit (Meath) - Posts: 312 - 04/09/2018 17:42:40 2139212 Link 0 |
trim is the true home of meath hurling and games should be all there from next year imo hurlit (Meath) - Posts: 312 - 04/09/2018 17:45:00 2139215 Link 0 |
Hurlit I am with you on trim being the weakest of the 4 teams left and I believe Kildalkey will have way too much for them. Foley91 (Meath) - Posts: 339 - 05/09/2018 09:47:56 2139342 Link 0 |
It is hard to know where trim are at. They were appalling in the group stages but it would be hard to argue that with togher playing albeit still not 100% and Heffernan coming back from the bad shoulder injury giving them some additional firepower off the bench they will be a different outfit. The problem is how bad were killyon. They have been right in the mix with Kildalky and Kiltale the last few championships so something is not right and the last few rounds of the group shows that. That said Trim bet them well and still hit 17 wides. Kildalky will be a different match up but trim have had their number too in recent times. Rathoath could do kiltale or could provide them with a proper challenge which might spark them into life. All in all two great semi final's to be had. Has a date been agreed for the two semi's has anyone heard? B52M (Meath) - Posts: 10 - 05/09/2018 13:50:59 2139467 Link 0 |
Ratoath will be hard to beat, they have strength and speed all over the place. That said Kiltale are getting stronger now, David Donohue back, Forde back so i go for a 4 point Kiltale win. gardentree (Meath) - Posts: 194 - 06/09/2018 13:50:57 2139821 Link 0 |
why is ratoath v kiltale the curtain raiser? would that not be the second game? i have rarely if ever seen the champions playing the first semi final, plus its the game most neutrals will want to see. surely kildalkey will hammer trim why would that be the main event? dickie10 (UK) - Posts: 532 - 06/09/2018 21:58:22 2139971 Link 0 |
