Absolutely. Short summer for the seniors but it could make a difference if we could get behind our underage teams if you're still feeling hunger pangs for championship football. These young lads are all that matters now for this year! LoyalRoyal (None) - Posts: 414 - 12/06/2018 21:09:45 2110757 Link 0 |
Absolutely. And I'm looking forward to seeing both in action.

You are talking hogwash about this top 12 teams in the country. It means nothing. Winning the leinster championship or getting promoted is what we yearn for. Getting back ti your stance on Mcentees carry on at the final whistle, do you really believe his behaviour was acceptable. Connolly interfered with a ref last year and Geragthy did it years ago and both were hit with heavy suspensions, and deservedly so. The difference being that they were players not managers. I have young children starting out playing football do you think I should encourage them to abuse Referees when they feel a decision went against them. Passion has to be channelled correctly, anger towards officials should be used to develop a siege mentality. The truth is that we let victory slip from our grasp atta (Meath) - Posts: 662 - 12/06/2018 21:35:34 2110770 Link 5 |
look we would beat a lot of them teams in the back door Louth leitrim down Carlow Laois Waterford and on a good day Kildare longford and monaghan. Andy had a few words with the man that didn't give us a chance a drawing the game that's all. he didn't hit him or didn't look like hitting did you ever get upset in life when someone done something unfair on you

He was right to be angry at him. He cost us the game. Also the analogies u use aren't the same. Mcentee never layed a finger on the ref. He gave him verbals. Hardly the same thing.

Fair play to the lads on Sat last,I for one was a proud meath man after it. However,I couldn't help but feel when extra time looked we were destined to fall short. We threw it all at Tyrone and fell short by a single score. Mcguinnes spoke of lack of experience,I tend to agree with him, but this is no fault of Mcentee and co. tackleberry (Meath) - Posts: 324 - 12/06/2018 21:55:17 2110783 Link 2 |

Just got to reading the post match comments on this thread now. I actually disagree with people who say Meath have went backwards under McEntee, before he came in the main thing people said they wanted was a return to the fight that used to be in Meath teams. While results are not going as well as I hoped I think the softness that had come into Meath football in the years before McEntee is not there anymore. The second half collapses that had been the norm in the 2 years before Andy came in was for me the lowest points I remember watching Meath, this was completely going against our tradition. Also people saying how close we were to being relegated this year are ignoring how close Division 2 was this year, 2 points separated 3'place and 7'th place in an 8 team division. The Longford game was bad but then Meath did not get much luck in the qualifier draw in drawing Tyrone, there was a lot of bad teams we could have been drawn with which could have got us up and running again and then were unfortunate in the match itself. The most disappointing thing for me this season was POR's interview (which if I remember right was right before we played Cavan having started the league well). I thought that was very dusloyal and disruptive. Also sad to see many players walking away, Andy has a very good management CV, if more of our best players had got behind him I think we would be in a better place now. bdbuddah (Meath) - Posts: 768 - 12/06/2018 22:07:19 2110787 Link 1 |
What age is Biggie?, he seems to be playing for a long time. I could see him being a very decisive and effective impact player. This is not to say he is not worth his place in the starting team as he would be but I think he could now possibly have a bigger impact on a match coming on fresh when the opposition is tiring 20 minutes from the end rather than starting a game. I could see him being good for a few scores in most games in this situation. A bit like Alan Brogan for Dublin a few years ago. It will sound mad to some but sometimes in the modern game the team you finish with is just as important as the team you start with.

Biggy was a county minor in 2007, That would leave him only 29 this year. Was also on the 2007 senior panel. Has given Meath 11 years of great service. Gets terribly unfair treatment from some sections of the Meath support. Should never be asked to perform a running, tracking back game . Graham's position , bearing in mind those 11 gruelling years should be in the full forward line. He will be an important part of Meaths challenge in 2019. Biggie is 29 and has plenty of football left in him. Fair play to the lads on Saturday gave it their all. McEntee has to stay otherwise lads who walked away have won, if they don't want to play for their county let them off. Obviously there are lads who went away for college and work but lads who want a good time in usa and getting dollars for play are not worth worrying about.
