Yes Parnell Park holds 13,000+ but what you don't know is that the GAA reduced its capacity to 9,000 in recent years. Wikipedia will only get you so far buddy. As I said, there was 8,000 at our game against Louth last year.

I reckon it'll be the same team that played the O'Byrne Cup Final will start against Longford. Maybe Eamon Wallace will get the nod ahead of Brennan or Burke. LoyalRoyal (None) - Posts: 414 - 21/05/2018 21:35:47 2102827 Link 0 |
Ah how foolish this looks.

I think from our point of view, it's a big game to gauge our progress. Was just looking at the fermanagh v armagh game, and although we lost both games by a point, the reality is we should have won both. People slate our provincial championship, but ya take your neighbours out of it, it's as competitive as any of the rest. How competitive would ulster be with the boys in blue, in it????... .. Anyway different topic........even though we have home advantage, I think meaths tradition and support base, probably balances that equation. Don't know honestly how it will go. I do think it has the potential to be the closest and best game of championship so far. Could our 50th leinster anniversary be celebrated with a win over a traditionally "big team"????.......here's hoping!!!!!! PS. Some great Contributers on your forums! Yes but Galway were always winning well untill they basically changed their whole team and it was then meath made it more respectable so I wouldn't be getting too excited about it

Ahh of course it's a great occasion. And longford go Into it with a very decent chance. No one in Meath is under any illusions. However should we fail to beat you some of these same people saying longford are a good team and can win etc, will be on here calling for Andy's head after loosing to "a team like longford ". Meath are in translation but we are on the right side of it. And gradually improving. I am looking forward to a great game. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 17035 - 22/05/2018 09:31:34 2102901 Link 2 |
Meath will win by 4 or 5 points this time round

I'd go for 3/4. But I'll take 1-0 in free taking competition , the result is what matters the most.

Longford are on the up, Meath are hopefully improving on recent championship form, if the havent they will lose, Meath by 1 score I think but would be no major shock if the home side prevail, certainly would not be backing us at 2/5 longroadback (Meath) - Posts: 300 - 22/05/2018 11:28:58 2102961 Link 0 |
A 12 year old would come up with a better response than that. It's funny though how you think any Meath poster who challenges your blinkered views are from Kildare! You have a bit of an insecurity complex about the Lilys and that's not good. Sorry to have put you in your place once again dec (re Parnell Park attendance). I'm sure there's an element of cute hoorism in some of the posts but I really can't see this as anything other than a relatively simple win for Meath. Longford have an abysmal record on the Leinster Championship of late. Even in the qualifiers they give the "bigger teams" a scare but more often than not ultimately lose. Meath by 5 or 6 then onto the Dubs.

For teams lower than us in the league, excellent and in first round Leinster matches again excellent. We all know that we struggle against the better teams but we typically beat D3 and D4 teams with ease. Louth were on the up this time last year, even more so than Longford, with promotion back to D2 and it was a no contest.

So if you want to travel to longford, I'll gladly meet you in valentines bar in longford. What you say?? I don't hide behind anything. Everyone knows who I am. How about coming out yourself? royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 17035 - 22/05/2018 17:47:07 2103083 Link 2 |
