Lads what do you think of this

If Meath had beaten Cavan we would be in Division 1 now... Kinda amazing but it is a fact...

Unlike yourself I have not criticised any manager past or present irrespective of how successful they are and I have gave no opinion on league performance -it is result based. You obviously have not read some of your own posts. I do take issue with others like yourself who claim certain players are excellent when in fact the are average even by any standard including club standard.

What is also a fact is we lost heavily.....a defeat which the scoreline didn't reflect fairly on Cavans dominance.......what is also a fact is we then went and lost heavily again to tipp in what was really pathetic stuff......and then on to another defeat at home against a very poor cork team. These are the real facts with no ifs or buts attached

This is the way I see it. It is all about the Longford game. It is a must win. If we don't win, the knives will be out for Andy and no matter how good he is - if we can't beat longford ( which would be a v tricky game for most teams on their home patch ) he may not be back next year. Beat longford and all the pressure is off. No one expects us to beat Dublin and if we get within 6-8 points it will be considered a good performance and we can look forward to the qualifiers with some optimism.
All about results.

I didn't even look at the tables afterwards. Now that is some fact.

I am not basing it on 1 teams performance, read the post in its entirety,

Have not seen any posts from Ziggy recently which is unusual, just hope that he is well along with all his family.

Exactly this. It doesn't matter what anyone here thinks of how good/bad he is, the players are voting with their feet in unprecedented numbers.
If he fails to beat Longford or pull the season out of the fire after a defeat by making the Super 8's. His position will be untenable. I'm not sure the next man in through the revolving door will be able to do much better but at least he might be able to assemble the best squad available.

Fair play royal Dunne it was something I noticed and it did amaze me.

I am not trying in any way to big up something that is not possible to big up or saying we were unlucky or anything like that

but just something I noticed

I acknowledge your post but the sad reality is Meath were well and truly beaten out the gate by Cavan this year. A five point defeat actually flattered us somewhat in the end.
Andy and the lads have huge work to put in before the trip up to Pearse Park. This will be, potentially, a very tricky game.

If my aunty had ball etc

But if we do manage to get to croker I'd love to see how Andy's team might fare.

As regards lads leaving the team....the likes of keoghan, Burke, Menton, Reilly etc. --All heros to me for sticking with it. I've been harsh on some of these lads in the past but fair play to them for putting the shoulder to the wheel during one of the worst periods in Meath gaa. These lads get my full support and I'll be there in Longford giving it socks in a couple of weeks.

Well said. I only care for those who put themselves forward.
It's easy to be on a panel when you can expect to pick up a medal, however it's hell of lot harder when you know you won't. And still put in the same effort.

Those guys mentioned are the kind of players we need and with that attitude! Very easy to stay on a panel for years on end when things are going well and you are competing for Leinsters and have a chance of getting to All Ireland Semi Finals etc, but it is extremely hard to do it the last couple of years with the way things have gone and fair play to them, if only we had another 15 or so of them. I would add the likes of the Cillian O'Sullivan, James McEntee and the Ratoath lads to that committed list who probably more than anyone you would understand if they wanted to call it quits considering the volume of abuse they get from a lot Meath supporters both on here and at games, because of where they are from. They all deserve to be on the panel because they are good enough to be on it. If there were better players than them in the county they would be selected but unfortunately there isn't, and maybe the people complaining about Ratoath having a few players on the panel should go back to there own clubs and put in the hours of coaching Ratoath have done and continue to do so at underage level, and maybe then there club and others will have a few representatives on the Meath teams of the future.
